I don't know what will happen to me. Acts 20:22. Paul said it. Meant it. He did know that what he more than likely faced was imprisonment and affliction. Bonds and bruises waiting for him. He was not moved by that. Didn't count his life as precious to himself. Acts 20:24. He was moved by the Grace of God.
With tears, he speaks a farewell to the elders of the church in Ephesus. I commend you to God and to the Word of His Grace so that you will be built up. Acts 20:32. Fast Forward to our day. I commend each one of you to the Word of His Grace. May you know a little more stability this day than yesterday---and a whole lot more than last year.
"Let Him be your fear.
Let Him be your dread." Isa 8:13
None of us knows what will happen to us, to our husbands, to our children.
I commend you to the Word of His Grace.
Kneeling with the elders on the beach at Ephesus, they prayed together, weeping, kissing Paul's face. Broken hearts, knowing this would be the last they saw him, they accompanied him to his ship.
ReplyDeleteBev, I marked the same verse to come back to: "And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified."
The Word of His Grace that is able..
to build you up
to give you the Inheritance.
I love sharing His Word of Grace that is able, so able to do miracles among us.
I knelt on that beach and prayed not for Paul for those alive today. Not everyone gets to say their final goodbye to the ones they love and who have served them in the faith. What a gripping moment to kiss Paul goodbye. And 2,000 years pass by as we all await His coming again.
