Psalm 73:3 and I Cor 11:19 "Oh! To Be Seen as Genuine" (August 18)

Oh to be recognized as a genuine person. I Cor 11:19   I'm envious of the arrogant.  Psalm 73:3 You know, the ones who have life fall into place --- Smooth. Sharp. Sensational. Stunning. Smart. Scintillating. Skinny. Sanctimonious. What am I thinking? Verse 5 is what haunts me. They are not in trouble as others are---like me and you. Scot-free. Not really.   Oh to be genuine. To have eyes to see the Way of Escape from what pulls on me.   Could You make me a little more genuine than I've ever been? Wonder what that looks like?

  1. Oh, to be genuine and wear no mask. You spoke what has been one of my heart's desires. That I might be who I am to everyone, that what you see is what you get and that it is who I am ALL of the time. I do not want to be one person at church or around Church family and another one in
    other places. Oh,to reflect Him.

    We may not be getting off scot free of trouble but we do have a greater reward when we are no longer on this earth. It is hard at times to not be envious of those who have all of the money they need/want and can do as they please and seemingly have NO crisis or trouble. Yet, we as believers know that our heart and flesh may fail, BUT GOD is the strength of our heart and our portion forever. And forever is a very longgggg time.....
    You spoke some very wise words Bev and I will be thinking on them all day....wondering what being more genuine would look like on me.

  2. Met with two of my longest friends (not oldest since that isn't p.c.) this weekend and talked about the real things in our lives. Not the "fine, how are you?" pat answers. Hard life stuff.

    Do most people really want you to be fine? Probably. Takes a lot of the burden off, I suppose, to not have to worry about another or solve their problems--To look all together and triumphant.

    We talked about finding forgiveness in the middle of the offense. We spoke of purpose in the midst of struggle--and what if we are the one that was suppose to give another hope and light to prove that we can endure, this, too, for the Hope that is to come? Masks cover all of this, and miss the mark in lending hope. Lending love.

    Banking on these verses today for that glorious day when...

    Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.

    Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
    and righteousness looks down from the sky.
