I Cor 8:1 Knowledge Puffs/ Love Builds (August 13)

Knowledge puffs us up,
but Love builds up.
I Cor. 8:1

"Satan hurts some as much by tempting them to be proud of mental powers, as others, by alluring to sensuality." Our Christian community values the educated while snubbing the sensual.  It could be that both are offensive to God.

"Knowledge which puffs up the possessor, and renders him confident, is as dangerous as self-righteous pride, though what he knows may be right."  We recognize pride, but do we recognize puffed-up confidence.  How does that educated person make you feel in their presence?  Are you loved or dismissed for what you do not know.

Some would say that without knowledge of the Greek language or without diligent study or without gifting like a Beth Moore , your human knowledge is worthless.  We know that is not the truth.  What makes knowledge worthless stems from our hearts not our minds or gifting.  "Without holy affections, all human knowledge is worthless."  [Quotes from Matthew Henry Commentary]

There is a Higher Goal here than Knowledge.
It is a Life called to Love!
