Acts 18:26 "Driven By Eternity or Earth" (August 4)

What occupies my time, my thoughts?
Paul was occupied with the Word, Acts 18:5---what a beautiful thought.
Apollos was competent in the Scriptures, Acts 18:24---another powerhouse.
Priscilla & Aquila stood up & explained the way of God more accurately, Acts 18:26.
The common thread among these Bible scholars was teachability.
Humble yourself under the Hand of God, under the Word of God.
Apollos was willing to listen to reproof, correction, admonishment.
Seems to me that this is missing in the church today.
People want to be right and if that is so, they must ask:
Why do I have to prove myself by being right.
I went to a counselor for the first time about 5 years ago, when I hit a wall,
I was stuck in so much pain of loss.
Here was a friend who asked me those hard questions and
explained the way of God more accurately.
There is no recipe theology.
We only have one shot at life.
Life is way too short to live short-sheeted.
Are we driven for a better life here or
Are we truly driven for Eternity and
That changes the quality of our lives here.
So much is about relief not repentance.
So much is principled living, victorious living.
Just change your thoughts.
We all need someone to pull us aside and see what we are really doing, Acts 18:26

  1. I might add, and when they do pull us aside, listen and be gracious. I don't take criticism easily, and I really need to.
I am going to work on that today. Stop being critical on myself and others.
    Love like Christ.
    BE LOVED BY CHRIST.

  2. I think we might be confused what victorious living looks like. Most of us would trade our birthright for a good meal. We care too much for the here and now. Driven by eternity, our souls would hardly care about a momentary affliction here. Correction would be apreciated. Admonishment would be heeded. Pride wouldn't register if it meant our eternal course would shift. I talk in potential not actuality. Wondering what it would take to get there...for me, a good start would be a repentant heart.

Update: Abby is comfortable. Rebel my son's dog snapped his tendon in his back leg, and is hobbling while we watch Bella this weekend. Lauren is on her way home early from Australia. Please pray for travel mercies for her, as she is more at risk for seizures when she is tired. She will be traveling straight for 28 hours when she arrives home. And she is worried.Mike is driving up to pick her up at DFW and bring her to the ranch this evening. And her 28th birthday is tomorrow. Lots going on...

  3. I think we would all be shocked by what it truly means to live the victorious Christian life. I truly need a heart check up...I have to stop myself time after time to quit asking Him for my comforts. I am so weak in the flesh that way. Seeking His face for what He really wants for me and how it is I am to live for Him and what my purpose for Him is to be.

Praying for all the pearls this week end. May God meet each one of us at our point of need and show up and show us exactly what it is He desires from us. praying for rest for Bev and all of your prayer requests, Annette.
