Psa 89:15 and Phil 3:10 "That I May Know Him in the Marvelous and Mundane" (July 23)

There's not a week that goes by that someone doesn't tell me that they don't want to be like those other "weak" people who are afraid and don't have the strength to change.  So, whom do we want to be?  We know God doesn't honor us seeking places of the greatest.  But do we want to be a little great and on top of things. Why can't we be ourselves and acknowledge what is going on inside of us.  How can you possibly say once-for-all I am done with sin.  No fear/no anger/no pride/.  I think a lot of what Christians do is really called penance for their sins.  He has won!  So why can't I glory in my weaknesses, my failures, that the power of Christ rest on me "that I may know Him and power of His Resurrection." Phil 3:10.  The word "power" in the Greek holds the connotation that the gamut of power is for the marvelous and the mundane.  Raising someone from the grave and raising a sick relative from his bed.  Instead of focusing on how I can be a better Christian, why can't I count everything as loss and press on to make it my own and forget what lies behind and strain forward to what lies ahead.  "If in anything you think OTHERWISE, if in ANYTHING, God will reveal that also to you.  I don't have to dig deep in life in a frenetic pace to accept my lot.  I just have to depend on a very Good God.  Praise God that this very day, if there is any immaturity in me, God will reveal it.  Phil 3:15.  "Blessed are those who walk in the Light of His Face." Psalm 89:15.

  1. "Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us."

When I'm in a crowd I love to sit back quietly and just observe people. I love to watch how they act and especially how husbands and wives communicate. This past weekend I met a ton of new people. It was so interesting to watch them.
My prayer is that they will know we are Christians by how well we "imitate Him."

Have a good Monday. See you tomorrow. ;)

  2. Nice to see you Ang!

We've just spent 10 hours at the church decorating. It is mystery magical. Our decorator is one of the best in the metroplex and the right price---he and his wife are my best friends so this is a labor of love for them who can regularly charge in the tens of thousands. How gracious of them. What Beauty flows from their hands. What exhaustion in all 8 of us who were moving furniture/tables/and chairs/climbing scaffolding/ hanging lights and gel paper and paper lanterns. It is gorgeous already! So grateful and dead tired.
    Night!
