Read with me cover-to-cover in 2025. Start the Old & New Testaments together on January 1. About 3 chapters per day. About 15 minutes of your day. Join us as the axe of Biblical Love thaws the frozen parts (66LL) in our hearts. My focus in 2025 is counseling yourself from the Word. We average 60,000 thoughts per day. Take courage. Talk to yourself from Truth. I am more emotional and pensive and overly-sensitive than most. I need to know how to truly live.

Prov 15:3 and Acts 2:2 "Freighted Words" (June 14)
Suddenly. They heard the Voice of Heaven. Suddenly. Can I really prepare to listen, to search, to find His Voice. Doesn't it appear suddenly, sometimes when I'm least aware. A memory. A look. A prompt. A thought. A sound of Heaven. Acts 2:2 And they were filled with the Spirit of God. And seventeen or so languages came out of their mouths, giving Glory to God, not solving their multitudinous problems, but giving honor to the One Who is Worthy.
Just boarded a slow train back to Austin. Tears stream as the steam from the engine propells me back home. What I hold in my heart is not the news people want to hear---Aloneness in the midst of Life, Love and Laughter. Most people don't want to hear Freighted Words on this train of life: Proverbs 14:10 ~ The heart knows its own bitterness. And I find comfort in Proverbs 15:3, "The Eyes of my LORD are in every place, keeping watch over the good and the evil." Keep Watch, Dear God, over what brews in this heart of mine. Keep Watch this day!

Loved, loved your description of how we "hear" the voice of God. And when we hear it, we KNOW it's Him, no doubt in our hearts at all. Would it not have been awesome and amazing to hear the disciples start speaking and each person, no matter where they were from, heard the words in their own tongue! They knew these men speaking were not learned men and that added to the glory for God. Which goes to prove that God uses ordinary vessels.....not necessarily just PHd's and sometime the more degrees you have can get in the way.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Bev, most people do not want to hear the freighted words of life. They just want to hear the light stuff and all of the good and easy things....they don't really want to hear the whole truth. May He keep watch over each one of our hearts today and every day.
I read this morning's readings and went off to Physical Therapy thinking about the heart. My heart that reacts when I need to be filling it with Truth. My sick, bitter, aching, heart (Pr. 13:12, 14:10, 13), needs some tranquility (14:30), joy, (14:13) and is thankful that The eyes of the LORD are everywhere. He sees those places where my heart needs tending and He does so firmly but with gentleness and love.
ReplyDeleteActs 2:25-28--" For David says concerning him,"
ReplyDelete“‘I saw the Lord always before me,
for he is at my right hand...
28 You have made known to me the paths of life;
you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’
