Prov 1:2 and John 19:21 "Ask What I Shall Give You?" (June 9)

What if God said to me:  You can have what you want this one time?  What would I choose?

I Kings 3:5 "Ask What I Shall Give You?"  What would it be?  Would I ask for good health? I received some shattering health news this morning and have to wait until Monday for clarification.  Oh my!  Would I ask for unbelievably good relationships?  The kind where there is no loss, ever.

David has gone the way of all flesh.  A disturbed distressed sincerely successful ruler who was not controlled by his loss in relationships with his dad and sons.  One of David's sons writes in Proverbs 1:2:

To know wisdom and instruction,
to understand words of insight,
to receive instruction in wise dealing,
in righteousness, justice, and equity;

What would I ask?

John 19:21 Who do you say that I am?  Pilate knew in his heart.  He is the King of the Jews.  It's not that He says that He is.  He truly is.  Pilate knew.  What do we do with this Jesus?

Questions:  one day, He will come and ask us the Ultimate Question

  1. Proverbs 1:33
"but whoever listens to me will dwell secure
and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.”

Dearest Bev, my prayer for you this long weekend will be peace and secure knowledge that you are never alone. I am praying for you.

I don't know why we always have to wait for clarification of health news. Waiting is such a hard thing to do.

The first thing I thought of in answer to the question, "Ask What I Shall Give You?", is that my family will come to know Christ in a personal way. I want more than anything for my children to know Christ.
I know they all have free will, and I have prayed for them all of their lives. The choice is theirs to make. So, if that is not my gift, I would ask for discernment, like Solomon. He knew when God was speaking to him, and he knew how to answer.
I need to listen, HEAR, and obey.

  2. Dear Bev, praying for you this week end. Pray for you on a real regular basis, but in agreement with Jan in what she is praying for you. Know this prayer is being heard and answered by our heavenly Father.

It struck me too as I read this that Pilate did KNOW that He was King of the Jews. He acknowledged Him. IF Pilate could do that, then oh, my, that tells me that I should acknowledge Him even more than I ever have. I want to be able to stand tall or bow low THAT day when He asks me that ultimate question, Who do you (Mary Lou) say that I AM? He is the great I AM!

  3. Sweet Bev,
Praying for you as you endure the dreadful wait again. Why is it always a weekend they let you hang on! Please let us know when you hear. In the meantime, I too pray for peace for you in the meantime.

Who do you say that I am? What our words and actions say to others. I know so many who believe "I would follow Christ, if I didn't have to look like the Christians I know."

Lord, of all the sins we commit, help us not be stumbling blocks to others to see you clearly!
