2 Sam 9:7/ Psalm 60:12/ John 2:3 "My Wine Ran Out" (May 10)

Someone, Someone
has shown my family kindness this year
by offering to us their heart, their home
And we barely knew who they were
It is the Kindness of our God

Someone, Someone
has just breathed his last breath
I've never met the man; I will one day
He has reached deep into his pockets
More than anyone else ever has
He has given my son a future, a college education.

I'm "taken" by the story of Mephibosheth
The one who was lame in both feet
The one who now eats at the king's table
All because he waited on God ~ 2 Samuel 9:7
His wine ran out (John 2) and David poured it back

There's no wine in the wedding of my life this day
Depleted.  Devastated.  Drained.  Discouraged.
No Wine.  So I wait for a King to appear
I know He will.  I just know He will.

Who will bring me where I need to go
Who will lead me past this mess
Have you rejected us, O God
I don't see you in my dilemma
With God, we shall do valiantly;
it is He who will tread down what we face.
Psalm 60:11-12

  1. Praising the Lord for the ones who provided you a home and for the dear man who has provided your boy a college education. God does see you and He is working behind the scenes in your life, dear Bev. May He show up in a big, small way whichever He chooses, to speak His absolute perfect peace to your heart and you will see Him written all over everything in your life. I do so see Him in your words, in your heart.

  2. Bev, you are a psalmist--the story that you tell spares details that make it too specific to relate to, but reveal enough of your heart's longing and pain that is common to man, poignant and heartfelt naming your struggles with this life and resting them in His lap.

"But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man."

Jesus knows our hearts. He knows we can't trust fellow men so He gives us Himself, the Rock to which we cling--the One Constant yesterday, today and forever.

A Seat at the King's Table--Mephibosheth, lame and a "dead dog" by his own account, found favor because of his inheritance. The king remembered his friend and perhaps even saw the resemblance of Jonathan as he ate his meals and looked on the broken man. God does that very thing for us. Who can I show my kindness to this day? Bring him unto Me and I will prepare a place at My Table for him.

"He prepareth a table before me in the presence of my enemies."

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me."
