I Sam 22:14, Psa 56:9, Luke 22:21 "Inquiring of God for You" (May 1)

It's rare these days that I cannot sleep but last night was one of those tossing and turning turbulent times.

"You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?"  I cannot even type the verse without tears streaming down my cheeks.  It's a low point for me as I look into my own heart, my brokenness, and my tremendous need for God.  "This I know, that God is for me." Psalm 56:9

Doesn't matter whose hand is on the table...Luke 22:21...traitor or friend.   What matters is whether I move in love.

Here's the House of Ahimelech in I Sam 22:14 moving in love to help David and the King will have none of it.  David---Saul's very own son-in-law.  Saul plots against him.  He takes the lives of 85 priests because Ahimelech "inquired of God for David." Saul has gone mad.  Wouldn't you just love for someone to inquire of God for your son-in-law?

May I never stop inquiring of God for my enemies and my friends.  And I offer deep thanks for all those white-hot teeming tears being collected this present hour.  May I live present, not absent.

  1. How I love the Psalms. Wrote something yesterday and then my "nimble" fingers made it delete, so I decided that meant I was not to post it, couldn't remember it either...oh, well. But the Psalms have always been "comfort" food to me and I will always point you to them when you need comfort.

What a comfort that He has put our tears in a bottle and taken account of them in His book.....when I am afraid I shall put my trust in God, for what can man do to me? He can only take my flesh but not my eternal soul.

Just as Jesus had gone before them into Jerusalem to have some one have the upper room ready for the Passover meal, He goes before us to prepare the way in heaven. He also goes before us, here on earth and prepares for what is going to happen. He goes before me, comes behind me and is all around me, what comfort that gives when wrong thoughts besiege me in the dark of the night.

Blessings on our reading of the Psalms.

  2. I can't believe today is May 1! I'm reeling how fast the days go--one third of 2012 is over. Another year, another season, another day closer to the Day.

    And on this spring morning,
This I know, that God is for me!

"This I know, that God is for me.
In God, whose word I praise,
in the Lord, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?"

  3. Did I need the words of Psalm 56 today!! I am feeling trampled upon, but thankful for His presence and the knowledge that God is for me.
