I Peter 3:4 "A Gentle and Quiet Spirit" (November 26)

I Peter 3:3 ~ Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.  That Kind of Beauty is what the LORD seeks not the beauty of this obsessed celebrity society in which we live.  I feel like I'm one of those throw-away people that doesn't count, but not in God's Eyes.  Adorn yourself with the Beauty of a Gentle and Quiet Spirit.  So, how do I do that today?  And, of course, the Luther quote comes to mind:  Throw away the "how" questions for you are just trying to build your strategy.

  1. That is such wisdom, Bev. The question of How is asking for strategies but can only be answered in learning how to abide in Him. No strategies, no great "tricks" but gently and quietly residing in Him. My questions of Why and How are often my rebellion. I have to check motives often.

Teach us to honor You, Lord, to look to You alone for every salvation.
