Read with me cover-to-cover in 2025. Start the Old & New Testaments together on January 1. About 3 chapters per day. About 15 minutes of your day. Join us as the axe of Biblical Love thaws the frozen parts (66LL) in our hearts. My focus in 2025 is counseling yourself from the Word. We average 60,000 thoughts per day. Take courage. Talk to yourself from Truth. I am more emotional and pensive and overly-sensitive than most. I need to know how to truly live.

Eph 5:33 "Submit In Everything" (October 3)
Wives should submit in everything...and...let the wife see that she respects her husband ~ Ephesians 5:33. There is an Energy at work to accomplish the mystery of marriage ~ Col 1:29. May God do abundantly beyond what we think according to that Power that works within ~ Eph 3:20.

Submitting is a protection. I'm horrible at it, but with Christ, we can do it (Jesus and I.) My nature was to challenge and power play and want my way, but He has a better plan for peace and love to abound. So thankful for a Higher Law at work in us that takes us to better places not only in our relationships with others but with the Lord as our Lord, not our buddy. When we move out of the driver's seat, He is Lord. This probably sounds trivial to you all, but it's where I am today--still asking Him to destroy flesh that His Spirit would have room to work to His Glory.
ReplyDeleteToday is the First Monday in October. Supreme Court opens a new docket of cases, and the constitutionality of Pres. Obama's healthcare plan is center stage (in an election year.) Could we pray for our Court, for wisdom, for our President, for our country?
I have to admit that these verses today have always made me want to say "Whew!" right out loud!
ReplyDeleteDo we realize what a responsibility has been placed on the husband? He is the authority over the wife...sanctifying her just as the relationship Christ has with the church.
How humbling for a man to see that task and take it to heart! Kinda humbles me to put myself in their shoes.
Only God can give a man the tools he needs to lead a wife and his family in this task. And how beautiful this works when God comes first and the wife is cherished AND nurtured in love and kindness.
I'm learning that I need to reign in MY zeal. I need to give God room to work and respond to things that are His responsibility anyhow!
Patience, self-control, love. I could use a lot more of those three virtues.
Sylvia, wish you would give some insight here about submission and trusting the Lord to work in a woman's best interest through her husband...
Twinkle, it is God's Grace when I yield to the Head of House. There have been too many times that we were both General's vying for command. And that still happens though not as frequent as in earlier years. In God's Grace I am painfully learning to be more submissive.
ReplyDeleteTwinkle I do not have any answers and my husband and my life is far from perfect, but it is God's Grace and what He takes us through that grows my character to Trust Him more in the little as well as the big decisions of life.
There is a line from Seven Days in Utopia with Robert Duvall. The mentor in this movie was sharing the story of Peter and his fishing boat with the young golf pro and suddenly stopped to insert. When Peter decided to make the choice to allow Jesus to teach from his boat that day Peter's life changed forever. "We do not realize how significant our everyday, daily choices and decisions make on the destiny we follow in life.
Again it is all about Grace and seeking to follow Jesus and through it all Give Him the Glory for His Glory.
This is a Song I must, Sing. Sylvia
