Col 4:6 "Speech Imbued with Wonder & Work of Grace" (October 12)

Colossians 4:6 ~ Let your speech always be gracious,
Seasoned with salt,
So that you may know how
you ought to answer each person.

Speech imbued with the Wonder and Work of Grace.
Speech sprinkled with Salt, the Love of our Redeemer.

Take life into your heart
And live it out in your behavior ~ Matthew 23:2.
We cannot live Col 4:6 by living it out in our behavior
unless it is coming from a good place in our hearts.
Take a look at how many people try to change their behavior.
They actually end up doing penance or works-righteousness.
Live from the Fray of your Heart.  No Formulas there.

No formulas, but we sure want one. A checklist maybe? But, so that none may boast in any righteousness of his own, God conveniently or inconveniently doesn't provide one. He is constantly saving us from ourselves.

We want a list so that we can work ourselves to heaven instead of learning to rely on grace, a slave to Christ alone, and there's not one thing we can do apart from Christ.

Bev, sorry I haven't called you--been sick, but am back today.Hope to talk with you later!

  2. "Remember my chains."

    Humble.
    Encouraging.
    Faithful.
    Consumed.

Paul's ministry didn't end just because he was chained. In fact, I believe it drove him closer to Christ.

Paul was humbled. The chains were meant for criminals. Bad men. Thieves. Murderers. Threats to society.

Paul was a threat alright. He threatened the work of the enemy in the lives of people who were without Christ. Paul was witnessing and bringing many to the Lord. He stole their souls back for Christ. He died to his own flesh and lived through Christ.

What a threat he was to the evil one. And he still is today through the written Word of God's Holy Bible.

I read today's verses and I am encouraged to fight harder for the kingdom of God to come. The enemy tries his best to discredit us or shame us or make us doubt.

    We overcome chains.
    Our God reigns.
