I Cor 11:1 "Be Imitators of Me" (August 30)

I Cor 11:1 Be imitators of me as I imitate Christ.

The apostle preached truth, a doctrine they ought to believe.

The apostle preached Truth because he led a life like he ought to live.

  1. Submission shouldn't be such a bad word. Our Lord was submissive to God, obedience even unto death. As Christ imitators we bow the knee and thus, fall under the umbrella of His protection. My parents were determined that we would all learn submission to the point of breaking rebellious spirits when they arose, and they did for me probably more than my two siblings. Now, I am thankful but I was not always. Rebellion is foolish and hard knocks are sure to follow.

The whole reading here may be talking about head coverings, but the bigger concept is authority--a concept conspicuously missing in today's culture. Self autonomy wins as an inalienable right, and how we are messing up when self wins.

"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."-Romans 12:10
