Acts 16:14 "We Are All Lydia's Who Need Help" (July 9)

Acts 16:14 Lydia was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. We try so hard to find the right words to help people and minister to their needs. We should weigh our words but it's not about our finding the answer for anyone.  Only God can open a heart. We must follow Providence.  We are all like Lydia and need help for our souls.  History calls her a worshiper of God but she still needed to know Him.  It is our responsibility, like Lydia,  to look for help and invite those like Paul and Timothy who can share the Word with us and help us in all our needs.  Lydia had a calling from God to worship Him---she was a worshiper.  But when she met Paul and Timothy, they brought her further up and further in to the One she worshiped.  Who can we invite this day to help us take advantage of all the good God is doing within us?  And who can we help move further into the Kingdom of God?

I am strengthened today reading about Timothy. He allowed Paul to circumcise him. He was serious about what he believed.

Father, in these cold days of a world that has lost it's AWE of You, I pray that we would feel Your warmth. I think about Paul pleading in jail and asking for his help to come before winter...to bring his winter cloak.
Sometimes I feel that bitter cold in this world. The love of many is growing cold. Father, may we be warmed by the winter cloak of our Comforter, the Holy Spirit. May we be warmed and strengthened by our faith family. Let us always be faithful to Your Law of Kindness. In the kind name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

  2. It's cleaning day around here, and I am sorting through so many books. I can't believe how many books I have on Christian topics, Bible studies, study resources, beautiful journals. I see so many totally unused ones and I am taking them down to my church to donate them. It bothers me how much I'm dressed up on the outside, looking all theological, and studious, yet so many have been picked up once or twice and laid down, or not even used. Am I yelling "Turn to God. Here He is, and yet my soul is withering? White-washed tombs...Hmm. At least I need to be less wasteful. We are so blessed to have so many resources at our fingertips. A click of a button and Amazon delivers it right to your door...convenient but not appreciated. Just rambling today...hope you all are experiencing more of Christ Jesus each day!

  4. Twinkle, Twinkle...loved your comment and it made me think again about how young Timothy was but yet God used him in the life of older Lydia. Loved your ending in the Kind Name.
