Matthew 22:2 It's a King throwing a Royal Wedding Party for his well-loved son. So few show up. The King's self-deprecating reminder is mysterious to me. Calls attention to Himself, the Grand King, who can't muster up a few guests for a splendid complimentary elegant matrimonial dinner. Nothing held back. Aristocratic True-Faith Parables. Mystery. Our Life. Too Busy. Not Hungry. Miss the Event-of-a-Lifetime.
Our King of Kings holds out a millennial wedding invite but we must dress up. The Marriage Supper of the Lamb. The King provides the wedding garments---kings always do. It is His Power that is so powerfully at work in you and me so that we do respond. Col 1:29 - Always either His Energy or mine at work. Will I put on a robe of righteousness? A robe of many colors. A robe bought with the throw of a dice. The Wedding Supper of the Lamb is ready. I'll be there, will you? It's the One Event you don't want to miss. Make sure you will be there. Matthew 22:14 "Many are called; few are chosen."
I am so glad that He has provided me with the garments to wear to His wedding feast. My heart is breaking for family members who have refused, thus far, His invitation, with the proper clothes, to dine at such a wonderful feast. I know there are countless others , may I reflect Him so that they may see the need to accept His invitation. Beautiful words Bev. Gave me a minds eye view of the feast.
ReplyDeleteThe invitation of a lifetime, indeed, the Party that He has prepared for us--but are we ready? Have we embraced the blood-stained-made-pure-white robe of His Righteousness?
ReplyDeleteMatthew Henry notes that men have to leave to come. "but, because the natural man discerns not, and therefore desires not, the things of the Spirit of God, we are pressed to accept the call... the bride saith, Come; let him that heareth say, Come; let him that is athirst come, Rev. 22:17."
All things are ready--"the Father is ready to accept of us, the Son to intercede for us, the Spirit to sanctify us; pardon is ready; peace is ready, comfort is ready; the promises are ready, as wells of living water for supply; ordinances are ready, as golden pipes for conveyance; angels are ready to attend us, creatures are ready to be in league with us, providences are ready to work for our good, and heaven, at last, is ready to receive us; it is a kingdom prepared, ready to be revealed in the last time.
Is all this ready; and shall we be unready? Is all this preparation made for us; and is there any room to doubt of our welcome, if we come in a right manner?
Come, therefore, O come to the marriage; we beseech you, receive not all this grace of God in vain, 2 Co. 6:1.
"...everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast."
As I read Matthew 22 two thoughts came to mind. First, beware of people, friends and family who come to you in sheeps clothing but inside are wolves ready to attack and seriously hurt me.
ReplyDeleteNext I thought about God's amazing love and grace that prepared a wedding feast just for me and will provide EVERYTHING I NEED. I pray for wisdom and discernment as I live today to "Speak and act as those who will be judged by a law that gives freedom."
Even today in this below freezing weather in Houston God is providing everything I need to worship and praise him. In turn I share what I have with others.
This is a Song I must Sing, Sylvia
"...everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast."
ReplyDeleteThis comforts me today. These days hurt my heart...and I try to follow what I'm reading in "Jesus Calling." My eyes are beholding The One Who Loves Me So.
Do you know Him?
Look. Look upon His Beauty. He is as none other. He is my Beloved. And I am His.
Look. Look upon His Strength. He is The Burden-Bearer that carries ALL my burdens. With ease and rock-solid Arms of Shelter.
Look. Look upon His Joy. He stands like a groom beholding His Bride as she enters the sanctuary. His Bride. Thousands of years He has waited for this moment. His Heart pounds in His Chest when He looks...at us.
Look. Look upon His Purity. His eyes are like a hot inferno, seeing those who enter as imposters. He sees through every false guest. He sees and has made His True Bride ready. Her Purity is the Robe of Light dipped in His Blood of Sacrifice, washing His Own clean and pure. Pure pouring Pure grace into the faithful Bride who has made herself ready.
Look. Look at His Love.
Listen. Listen to His Song.
Lean. Lean into His Arms.
They are Everlasting to Everlasting.
Heaven is Home and we are welcomed into His Glory...
He invites, He provides the clothing and the banquet.
ReplyDeleteO that our unsaved loved ones will attend the banquet with us!
