Matthew 7: 24-27 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it. And great was the fall because "God never knew you." What still stands in my life after the storm passes?
The center of the Good News is that you can know Jesus Christ and
enter into a Relationship with Him that transforms you from
Grasping for life for your sake to Losing life for Christ's Sake.
Any time with prioritized energy you do anything, anything
designed to fill your emptiness or protect yourself from more rejection,
you are serving the wrong kingdom.
What kingdom do I serve today?
Am I building my house on the rock or on sand?

I started reading Mary Beth Chapman's book about losing her precious daughter. Beth wrote the Intro. Beth shared a story that prompted my thinking to ask God to show up for me and encourage my weary soul. HE showed up in a post office box this morning. You see, a few hours earlier, when met with a financial dilemma, I called out to Him at 4am and asked Him if He could please, this one time, provide for us this very day and help. I didn't know how HE would do it but I believed HE would do something. But it was beyond...I'll never forget this day when in our desperation, a very Good God turned to me and said come near, here's My Provision, not because I deserve it but because HE is just like that and takes care of His children. Thank you God. Thank you Anon who had no idea what was going on! Today was kind of like Gen 22: 13-14 Abraham lifting up his eyes in his desperation to find a God Who provides, a God-Who-Sees-To-It!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your post on FB I knew deep inside that He had provided more than just encouragement. Shouting from the roof tops with you for our great God. He had truly gone before you and provided the way and an answer to your prayer before you had even cried out to Him. He gives to us over and over and we truly deserve nothing good that He gives us. He loves you dearly, you are the apple of His eye, you are His daughter and He longs to provide and protect more than you long to provide and protect for your children. I've also prayed for Blair for encouragement for her and for you. Praising Him today for you...I will be sharing how God showed up for you..giving Him all the praise and glory. Love you
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing, Bev. It is so wonderful to hear how God is at work in your life. I agree with Mary Lou, He already knew and had answered your prayers before you even asked, He was bringing you to the place of total desperation and dependence on Him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and powerful God we serve!
"So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit."
ReplyDeleteI SO want to be healthy and I believe with all my heart that I cannot be healthy if I don't stay in His Word and do what He says.
Will you please pray for me? I am very confused about which church to go to these days. I don't believe God cares where we worship, but I need a little consistency in my life.
Thanks, my rock solid friends!
Thank you for sharing Bev, I join you in praising our Abba ...
ReplyDeleteToday's reading is so rich. I think what stands out the most to me is asking, seeking, knocking. We don't ask once, knock once or seek once. We continue to ask, seek, knock.
Sabbath blessings to you sweet Sisters.
p.s. Bev, I'm going over to FB to read what's going on. For some reason you don't always show up on my page. I'm in total agreement with what Mary Lou and Jan said!
ReplyDeleteMatthew 7:24 "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."
ReplyDelete"These words" are life and breath to us. Our Rock. Wisdom. Steadfastness. The rains WILL fall, the floods will come. Plant us firm in Your Word, Lord.
Bev, so thankful for the GIFT sent your way by our Good God! So very thankful...I hurt with you. These days of learning to depend only on God are tough but beneficial. He loves us so very much! He sees the tears at 4 am. And He is the giver of all good gifts. Thanking God for using anonymous givers to show His love for you.

I have these verses printed out on tiny powerpoint cards. I chose a photo for the background of a large castle built on huge stones right at the edge of the ocean. It stands strong and triumphant on the solid foundation it is built upon.
I pray this prayer for my home all the time. No other foundation will stand firm under the strong storms of life. Just the home that is built on the Rock of Christ Jesus.
I'll share my very private prayer for my marriage here in this place of pearls, just in case someone else needs Christ to be the foundation of their storm-tossed home...
Heavenly Father,
Our home, our love, our care over each other is doomed if we are not built upon the Rock of Christ. Fix Him as our Rock. Set our faces like flint to do the work of restoration for our family. We are turning back to You, our God. Give us ears to hear what You are saying to us and the ability to obey You. Give us both wisdom. We are so lacking. Fill us with Your wisdom. Don't let our home fall. We stand on the Rock of Jesus Christ and we will not fall. All hope is in You, God. Jesus, save us. Spirit, move in us. In Christ's Name and For His Sake. Amen.
But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Joshua 24:15b
A moving prayer Deborah...
ReplyDeleteand it speaks to my dilemma.
You see, it wasn't a financial dilemma that I was in, it was a spiritual one. And the whole scenario started with one question at Chuy's on Friday night and it all broke loose. I have to see the evil within me---this 66 LL quote kept coming to mind: Pay attention to how terrible and deep within you is the reality of evil. No matter how great the pain or confusing the suffering, Live in the Mystery of My Love. Struggle to Trust Me...my husband and I were not on the same page and I couldn't let it go. Felt like I was so right and acted so wrong. But at 4am I went to Him and asked Him specifically to show me that He was real---I felt that bad. He showed up Saturday morning in a way that no one could have known except for Him prompting anon. Struggling to live in the Mystery of His Unconditional Love in the midst of my mess. You all mean much to me!
