Read with me cover-to-cover in 2026. Start the Old & New Testaments together on January 1. About 3 chapters per day. About 15 minutes of your day. Join us as the axe of Biblical Love thaws the frozen parts (66LL) in our hearts. My focus in 2026 is counseling yourself from the Word. We average 60,000 thoughts per day. Take courage. Talk to yourself from Truth. I am more emotional and pensive and overly-sensitive than most. I need to know how to truly live.

Matthew 14:33 "Do My Fears Cause Me to Worship?" (January 22)
Matthew 14:25 In the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on the sea: Jesus didn't come in the 1st or 2nd, even 3rd watch. The Romans divided the night into watches of 3 hours each. Four watches to the night. He waited til they were tossed and turned over 9 hours on the small sea. He had instructed them to cross this very small sea to the other side. Possibly a 2-hour ride. But the experts (in fishing that is) were in the 10th hour, desperate, fighting for their lives. "Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid." And it was Peter who answered: "Lord, if it is You, command me to come to you on the water." And Peter walked on water. Friends, you know this doesn't happen in real life. This man truly was the Son of God. No ordinary man walking on water and helping his friend do likewise. "And those in the boat worshiped Him saying, 'Truly you are the Son of God.' " (Matthew 14:33). Do my fears this day cause me to worship? I spent lunch today with the One Who walked on water spilling out my tears and fears to Him. He gave me Courage today. Don't quite know how. But it happened. Truly HE is the Son of God. Has He left you tossed and turned for 9 hours? He comes when it is the darkest! Hold fast!

Today's passage reminds me to keep my eyes on Jesus. When my eyes are on Him, my faith grows no matter the circumstances and He fills me with courage and peace.

There is something holy in the wait or He would come in the first watch. When Peter begins to fall, Jesus rebukes, "Oh you of little faith." Would we have "eyes to see" if He came immediately? Hearts that worshipped Him if He answered us in our first cry to Him? He knows our hearts. He knows our feeble faith. There's only one way to grow faith that lasts, that places its indelible mark on our lives, and that is in the crashing waves. If only we can keep our eyes focused on Him, not the waves. He does the work. He holds us up, but we must look to Him. Fear less. Focus more. Faith grows.
ReplyDeleteToday's passage reminds me every time that I read it...I MUST keep my eyes on Jesus, my focus on Him and NOT on the circumstances surrounding me or my loved ones. When I do take my focus off of Him, then I begin to become overwhelmed with the circumstances and become fearful. As long as I hold on to His hand and keep my focus on Him, I am then able to not be afraid and only then. Thinking of Joanne and family in this waiting time and in the fourth watch of the "night" they are going through. Praying for all of us to keep our focus on Him.
ReplyDelete"Take heart"
ReplyDeleteNo coincidence that I read this hear today. And it speaks to me.
I heard it last Tuesday night when Beth Moore ended the first session of the DVD study I'm viewing...Here and Now, There and Then...Revelation.
She spoke that at the end of the session to us who are listening to this study..."take heart."
I've heard that in my heart and soul all weak...sharing it with others.
And, here it is again.
Take heart. Logos. The Word made flesh.
He speaks. I listen.

so sad to bury our good friend Al this day...his faith speaks even in his death Heb 11:7 (I think that's right).
It has been a pensive day for me seeing our old friends at the church where we used to go. Made my heart happy to see Jen and Linda and Pam and so many...we will all spend eternity together!
