A String of Pearls

Matthew 1:19 "Resolve to Be Holy" (January 1)

Matthew 1:19 - "And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly." Before Joseph even knew that there was a Divine Appointment here, Joseph resolved to act in holiness. May my resolve to be holy this coming year be greater than any other resolve.  God give us eyes to see the resolve of our hearts.

God wants me to be holy in any situation more than
He wants me to figure out what to do to improve my situation.

  1. and they shall call his name Immanuel"(which means, God(AF) with us).

He is our God who goes with us, not a cheap charm in our pocket, but a magnificent God with a Plan A to save us from sin and separation. Rejoicing today over this Plan that takes me from hopeless straight to His Presence.

    Blessed 2011 indeed!

  2. - you shall call his name Jesus,(AA) for he will save his people from their sins.

He alone can save us...He alone delivers us...He alone loves us purely...

May we glorify Him in 2011...

  3. Happy New Year, Pearls! I am so excited to begin 2011. I resolve to go into battle, claiming the salvation of my family. I am going into prayer war mode this year. It is not about me, it is about The Christ who lives in me. I will continue to love all of you, and pray for you in the coming year as we study together.

  4. Blessed New Year to the String of Pearls...we were truly bought with a great price. May we "see" Him and "feel" Him each day this year as He reveals Himself to us in countless ways, for He is truly with us.

  5. 1:1a

"The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ"

Please don't skip over these miracles hidden in the list of genealogy!

    1. baby Isaac
    2. Tamar birthed Judah's child, interrupting Satan's plan to destroy this line
    3. Ruth + Boaz = Obed
    4. The name of David's wife is not recorded. I've always wondered why God didn't speak her name here. Is she not counted as one of the righteous? God knows those who are His...He knows our name.

Everytime I read these names, I think about how the enemy was at work to stop Christ from coming...but God was Alive and Active in seeing His Plan A come to pass...what a miracle Christ's birth was!

God is truly able to bring miracles into our own lines. I'm standing with Him to see all my loved ones in heaven one day.

  6. God created man for fellowship with The Father. Life is about Family and Relationships.

It is so good to see Nise’, Abba’s Girl and Mary Lou as well as other regular Pearls who comment on today's comments. The String of Pearls is Family to me.

The Gospel of Matthew begins with: The Genealogy of Jesus Christ. I went to my ESV Study Bible p.1820 and wanted to share these comments with you.

“Jews kept extensive genealogies to establish a person’s heritage, inheritance, legitimacy, and rights. Matthew demonstrates Jesus legal claim to the throne of David, emphasizing Jesus' legal descent from David and Abraham.
Matthews opening words carried special significance for a Jewish audience, whose ancestry was inseparably intertwined with the covenants God made with Israel.

The inclusion of five women in Jesus' genealogy—Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary is unusual, since descent was usually traced through men as the head of the family. Rahab and Ruth were Gentiles, and Tamar, Rahab and Bathsheba were women of questionable character. The linage is comprised of men, women, adulteress, prostitutes, heroes, and Gentiles---Jesus will be Savior of all.

These quotes from p. 1820 and The WORD from Matthew bring renewed hope for me, an alien on this earth and an adopted Jew by way of the Blood of Jesus Christ.

Be blessed as we begin this new chapter in life, 2011 reading through the New Testament.
This is a Song I must sing.
    Grace and Peace,
    Sylvia

  7. Oh Annette, Plan A --- and the God of everything is with us. If only I could "take that in" a little more this day, this year. You speak to me so through your writing. So glad we are on this journey together.

  8. Question - Does anyone know how to take the followers off so we can start over again?

  10. Bev, about the Followers. What I read on Blogger help is that you can block a follower. I've never read how to remove a follower.

I guess you could start a new blog if you really wanted to get away from some of the older Followers.

I'm still having trouble with my computer and it's a shame that things can be so frustrating!

Happy New Year! I am looking forward to your posts.

If you think about it, please send me your phone number in an email. I have no idea where you posted your new number and I just wanted to call and talk sometimes.

Welcome to the new faces and so glad to see the familiar faces back again!
