Matthew 10:39 "The Hunted" " (January 15)

Matthew 10:39 - Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.  It's the first verse I heard that called me to follow Christ.  My besetting sin then was fear and I still face my fears to this day.  So what does it mean for me to lose my life, lose my fear?  God's Perfect Love will cast out that fear.  Love Much, Love Well (Phil 1:9).

Matthew 10:26 - Have No Fear of people for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.
Matthew 10: 28 - Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:30-31 - The hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear Not, you are of more value than many sparrows.

"She's the sort of woman who lives for others -
you can tell 'the others' by their hunted expression."  C. S. Lewis (Screwtape Letters)

  1. I tend to forget my value:

Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

We are so precious to our Abba Father, He gave His Son for us and I think even though we are secure in our salvation, we tend to forget how valuable we are to Him.

Women tend to battle self reproach, we need to remember the battle is won - there is nothing to fear, Jesus takes away fear and brings peace, though peace sometimes comes with a sword.

  2. Love your quote from C. S. Lewis, Bev. Lord, let that NEVER be said of me.

40 "Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.

    (Lord, I receive.)

41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.

    (Lord, I receive.)

42And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward."

(Lord, I give in Your Name.)

  3. Matthew 10:38 -39(The Message) "If you don't go all the way with me, through thick and thin, you don't deserve me. If your first concern is to look after yourself, you'll never find yourself. But if you forget about yourself and look to me, you'll find both yourself and me."

Abba's Girl, I agree with you. Woman battle with self reproach. I think it is because Mothers make their daughters feel guilty because it is the most instinctual and effective way to get them to obey.
    It is NOT God's way!
How many times do we beat ourselves up over what we have said or done and forget what He says, "forget about yourself and look to me."
Through the Father comes perfect love for Him, for others and for ourselves.
