December 24 ... I John 1 - 5 "God Is Greater Than My Worried Heart"

DID SOMEONE REALLY SEE THIS HAPPEN?
1 John 1:2 John the Apostle, the beloved disciple of Jesus was there with Him, taking it all in.  He heard with his own ears, saw with his own eyes, verified with his own hands...the Life of God took place before His very eyes.

WHO KNOWS MORE ABOUT ME THAN I KNOW ABOUT MYSELF?
I John 3:18 -24  My dear children, let's not just talk about love; let's practice real love. This is the only way we'll know we're living truly, living in God's reality...God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves. And friends, once that's taken care of and we're no longer accusing or condemning ourselves, we're bold and free before God!

AM I MAKING ROOM IN MY LOVE FOR FEAR?
I John 4:17-18 - God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us...There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.

WHAT BRINGS THE WORLD TO ITS KNEES?
1 John 5:5 - The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world's ways is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God.

DOES MY STORY DEFINE ME?
"You are Mine.  The life that defines My Son now defines you.  You are alive in Me.  You are alive to Me.  you are alive with Me.  Inexpressible joy is yours for the asking...on My Spirit's timetable."  66 LL.

  1. May God's love have the run of the house in each of us! I've experienced Him in new ways this year-and my awestruck wonder of His Plan A is almost too much for me.

Because of your hearts for Him, I've seen Him, felt His immeasurable Love, trusted more, and rested at His Feet all year long.

Our time together has been very precious to me. May you all experience Him in new ways until we come together for the Big Party. It's going to be one Fine Day!

Thank you, thank you for your prayers for Lauren. Lauren texted me that the second x-ray was totally fine--no "opacity." Thanks be to God! He is our Healer.

And tonight, He is birthed again in each of our believing hearts. Blessed evening! May love explode in your hearts for Him and for His people. "Let's practice real love."

  2. 1 John 3: 18 -20"My dear children, let's not just talk about love; let's practice real love. This is the only way we'll know we're living truly, living in God's reality. It's also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves."

I love the passage today. For me, the section you did not include was critical, so I have included it. I have a big issue with self-criticism, even when there is something to it. I worry I am not good enough, I say or do the wrong things everyday and generally beat myself up about it. God loves me so much more than I could ever love myself.
I praise Him for the gift of Grace.

  3. Oh, Annette, rejoicing with you over Lauren's good report!

"But if anyone does sin, we have a Priest-Friend in the presence of the Father: Jesus Christ, righteous Jesus. When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good..."
    ( 1 John 2:1-2)

So grateful for this truth...for those times when my life hasn't matched His words. For those times I loved poorly. I am forgiven.

So grateful that I can live deeply in Him, knowing that He lives in me by His Spirit. "...whoever has the Son has life..." (1 John 5:12)
I am empowered to love well.

"How could a forgiven but still empty well-digger, a saved but whiny comfort-seeker, a regenerate but still blessing-demander like me be a part of a story like Yours?" ( page 340 66LL ) Christ alone.

Be sure to read what Crabb wrote about 1 John in 66LL. I loved what he shared about Dietrich Bonhoeffer on page 341. His
intense struggles while in prison caused him to write a poem "Who Am I." Was he the man he saw himself as; or was he the man others saw?
In his poem, he ended all the questioning with this: "Who am I? They mock me. These lonely questions of mine. Whoever I am, Thou knowest, O God, I am Thine."

Crabb then writes; "You are mine. The life that defines My Son now defines you. You are alive in Me. You are alive to me. You are alive
    with me. Inexpressible joy is yours for the asking...on my Spirits's time-table." ( page 342 66LL )

    Thank you, Father, THOU KNOWEST!

Loved what you wrote Annette! You express all of our hearts well....Tituts 1:1---this is all about changed hearts. And He knows us better than ourselves and is not finished either. Thank you God!
