November 11 ... John 16 - 18 "My Story Doesn't Define Me"

SO MANY QUESTIONS
John 16:23 - When I see you again, you'll be full of joy, and it will be a joy no one can rob from you. You'll no longer be so full of questions.

UNSHAKABLE AND ASSURED
John 16:33 -  I've told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I've conquered the world."

NOT DEFINED BY THIS WORLD
John 17:12  Jesus prayed for God to guard us as we pursue this life so that we can be of one heart and mind.  He asked that His Joy would be complete in you and me this very day.  Guard them from the evil one.  I am not defined by this world.  My story doesn't define me.  Make me holy----consecrated----with the Truth.  And Jesus prayed to give each of us a mission in this world.  And He ended His prayer asking for God's Love to be in me and you.

  1. I'm so thankful that Jesus prayed out loud to the Father. So tender, so painful, so intimate.
"I glorified you on earth by completing down to the last detail what you assigned me to do. And now, Father, glorify me with your very own splendor, the very splendor I had in your presence before there was a world."

Lord, may we glorify You on earth and complete to the last detail our own assigments. And thank you for that God-ordained purpose and significance You alone assign us. In the beautiful Name of our Savior Christ Jesus. Amen.

  3. John 18:8-9

"I told you," said Jesus, "that's me.

    I'm the one.

So if it's me you're after,

    let these others go."

(This validated the words in his prayer, "I didn't lose one of those you gave.")

Seized for sin...blasphemy...the passion of Jesus Christ begins.

    I just am so grateful.

I should be the one they came looking for in that garden.

I should be the one they found.

He was holy, perfect and divine.

    None of that describes me.

Jesus, thank You for taking my place. Help me to always remember the cost of grace. I'm hiding all of this in my heart so that I won't sin against You. How lovely You are to me, standing there in that garden, looking at those who came for You. Hidden behind You in all Your courage...is me. I am hidden and protected. You walked my road. You set me free. I give You my love in return.

    Amazing Love...how can it be?
