November 10 ... John 13 - 15 "A Loveless World is a Sightless World"

TRUST ME
John 14:1  "Don't let this throw you. You trust God, don't you? Trust me.

ANOTHER FRIEND
John 14:15-17  "If you love me, show it by doing what I've told you. I will talk to the Father, and he'll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth.

LOVELESS WORLD
John 14:23 -24"Because a loveless world," said Jesus, "is a sightless world. neighborhood! Not loving me means not keeping my words.

REALLY ALIVE
“To really live would mean to do whatever it takes to advance God’s Kingdom, to give God pleasure, and to be an opportunity for the Spirit to do His Work in the most disappointing husband or frustrating wife" no matter what your circumstances.  66 LL.

FEELING ABANDONED
John 14:26 -27  "The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you... I don't leave you the way you're used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft.  If we feel left out, abandoned, overlooked, overused---it's not God we are experiencing.  What sin stirs your heart?  What surrender must stir thicker?

  1. John 15:9-10 ~ "I've loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you'll remain intimately at home in my love. That's what I've done—kept my Father's commands and made myself at home in his love."

Make yourself at home. Get comfortable in His Love. The same way God loved Jesus, He loves us. Luxurious, extravagant love! He's about to die and He tells us, God will provide His Spirit, a Friend--we'll never be alone. Exactly what we need to hear when we lose a loved one. He provides. We're not alone. He will take care of us.

In gratitude and extravagant love this morning--He loves us so much!

  2. "If I hadn't done what I have done among them, works no one has ever done, they wouldn't be to blame. But they saw the God-signs and hated anyway, both me and my Father. Interesting—they have verified the truth of their own Scriptures where it is written, 'They hated me for no good reason.' "

For a Love Letter, we have to cringe here.

He commands them to love one another. And reveals the world will hate them. The only way we are able to do that is through the in-dwelling power of the third person of the Trinity.

What a powerful weapon we have against the enemy of darkness...the one who entered Judas...the one who stones christians every day with rocks hurled in the spirit-world.

Are you as bruised as I am? He has set his sights on me like a sniper aiming.

Abandonment is a weapon he loves to use. But the other side of the "abandonment by the world" coin is the call from God to abandon all and follow Him.

    God says love Him...with abandon.
God says love one another as I have loved you...with abandon.

Thirty pieces of silver was the cost of Christ's body broken for me. Following Christ can cost you fiends, family, and the best of self-made plans. But all our sins are Paid in Full. No comparison.

    Wash my feet, Jesus.

  4. Does anyone know why we don't wash each others' feet like we take the Lord's Supper? This is what Jesus was doing when He said to do everything we saw Him do. I know some churches do this once a year, but I wonder once again why we pick and choose how we follow Christ and what is convenient?
