ON YOUR KNEES.
Luke 10:2 "On your knees, ask the God of the Harvest to send harvest hands." God acts in behalf of those who wait for Him - Isaiah 64:4. Things are set in motion because we pray. Unbelievable...why am I not praying about everything? The one who listens to you, listens to Me (10:16).
IT'S WHAT GOES DOES FOR YOU
...And the disciples rejoiced because people listened to them. And Jesus said: "It's not what you do for God but what God does for you—that's the agenda for rejoicing (10:20)." ... Only one thing is essential, and Mary has chosen it (10:42).
STAND YOUR GROUND, WAKE UP YOUR NEIGHBORS
"Ask and you'll get, Seek and you'll find (11:9)." Stand your ground, knock and wake up all the neighbors and even those who aren't your friends will finally get up and get you whatever you need (11:8). Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we're in. As bad as you are, you wouldn't think of such a thing—you're at least decent to your own children. And don't you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask Him (11:13)" Guard God's Word with your life (11:28).
I'm waking up my neighbors over here. My boy is really sick since last weekend. The infirmary tested him for mono and it was almost positive. So I'm bringing him back to a doctor tomorrow. Please pray for him. God is doing a work in his heart of bringing him to trust Him in a very difficult situation. Please pray for Britt. He can't afford to miss any class---he got put in upper level classes with seniors (I think by mistake) and so he has to keep up with it all or he loses his full ride. He's doing well but this sickness has taken a toll on him and he can hardly move. Deeply appreciate your prayers---loved the reading---it was just for him and me.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for your son, Britt. 2 of my daughters had Mono in High school. It is difficult, but not impossible. With God all things are possible.
ReplyDelete33 -36"No one lights a lamp, then hides it in a drawer. It's put on a lamp stand so those entering the room have light to see where they're going. Your eye is a lamp, lighting up your whole body. If you live wide-eyed in wonder and belief, your body fills up with light. If you live squinty-eyed in greed and distrust, your body is a dank cellar. Keep your eyes open, your lamp burning, so you don't get musty and murky. Keep your life as well-lighted as your best-lighted room."
ReplyDeleteLiving with wide-eyed wonder and belief!
Bev, I'm saying a prayer for your dear Britt this morning. I had mono my first semester of college (got dropped off by my mom and didn't unpack for 3 weeks) but did okay--it does take its toll on energy. I love today's readings, too. Each day is filled with such wisdom and LIGHT.
ReplyDeleteJan, your words today resonate with me. I am especially aware of how we are to be LIGHT in this darkness with Halloween just around the corner. Our pastor has asked us to turn on all the house lights and be LIGHT to our neighbors this year on Halloween, grill some hotdogs, pop some corn, give out some candy, but also spread His love, and a word of real Hope in the darkness--in other words a real practical application of spreading LIGHT.
Praying for you and your boy. will pray till you tell me to stop. Take care of yourself too. Love you...
ReplyDeleteI will pray for you and Britt today.
ReplyDelete"Ask and you'll get;
Seek and you'll find;
Knock and the door will open.
Don't bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need." Luke 11-9:10
These verses struck a chord with me today. I was a "Martha" yesterday working myself up over nothing being gently reminded that what I'm feeling frustration over is not that important and really doesn't matter in the big picture. May I see You, Lord, and what is essential.
Bev, I pray God's healing power, the Balm of Gilead into Britt and your bodies for each specific illness. May Britt and you be the healed of the LORD. I praise God that you, Bev are well enough to care for Britt and help him recover.
ReplyDeleteMay Nehemiah 8:10b ...the JOY of the LORD is my STRENGTH live on your lips to praise and worship the LORD through this experience.
This is a song I must sing of prayer on behalf of Britt and Bev.

THE REBUKES FROM CHRIST TO THE PHARISEES...
ReplyDeleteAll boils down to the fact that the ONE they worship is the man in the mirror.
Bev, praying for Britt.
