On this journey,
make my heart melt not flint.
Hold fast oh my soul.
Grasp me tight, O God!
Thaw me out.
"They made their hearts like flint so that they could not hear the Word of God."
Zechariah 7:12.
How do I do that?
How can I not do that?
O God, Make my heart burn, break, bend, burst at the sound of Your Voice, Your Words.
Do not be afraid but let your hands be strong. Zech 8:14
Do not plot evil against each other, and do not love to swear falsely. Fear not, little ones. Zech 8:17
O God, May Your Word be like the hammer that breaks the rocks to pieces, like the snow on a warm day that melts my freezing heart. Melt me like the snow. Break me like the rocks. Cover me with a blanket of grace where I busily say: "not yet." Thank You for what you are doing in all of our lives. Grace Upon Grace.
PHOTO: This is me. Standing in Brantome, France. Nothing has mattered more to me than the Word of God, my oxygen and lifeline. All because of the Living Word. And the language of the Word is ever to be grasped and fleshed out. It's the Incarnate Word that lives through us.
