October 5 "Heal My Soul" Matthew 9:2

Shepherds, scribes, priests, paupers. No favoritism shown. No big people, no little people in God's economy. We all matter to Him. He went to the rich cities and the poor ones. Calling all to repentance. Change your mind not just your behavior---no moral pressure there, just a changed life. Matthew 9:2 Jesus seeing their faith, says to the paralytic: Take courage, son, your sins are forgiven." Healing of the soul trumps healing of the body. The synagogue official knows in Matthew 9:18-21: "Come lay your hand on my daughter, and she will live." Even the blind man in Matthew 9:29 - do you believe Jesus is able to heal you? Yes, LORD. Be it done according to your faith. And so it is this very day, not because of our status, not because of our obedience, not even because of our morality. Be it done to each of us by our faith.

LORD, I believe, oh for faith to trust You more.  Help our unbelief.  Empower us to serve your Kingdom, not our own.  Am I more concerned about filling my own empty life, taking great pains to protect and manage how I live every day so selfishly, or am I truly concerned for advancing Your Kingdom and relating to my world like You would want me to---whatever that looks like.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS:
Arise, O Lord, confront me.  Cast down my pride.  Deliver my life from what's wrong.  Deliver me from those whose portion is this life only.  "As for me, I will see Your Face in righteousness.  Let me be satisfied only when I awake in Your likeness.  Thaw me out!
