Do I know deep down that it is a Righteous God Who allows all these things to happen to me in life? Jeremiah prayed: "Righteous are You, O Lord, that I would plead my case with You;
Indeed I would discuss matters of justice with You:
Why has the way of the wicked prospered?
Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease?
You have planted them, they have also taken root;
They grow, they have even produced fruit.
You are near to their lips
But far from their [x]mind.
But You know me, O Lord;
You see me;
And You examine my heart’s attitude toward You.
Jeremiah 12:1-3.
God is looking at my heart,
looking for an honest humbled heart that demands nothing
"We will never come to really see that only God can meet our deepest needs as long as we secretly believe that something else can...nothing else will do." 66LL
Jeremiah 12:5
“If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out,
Then how can you compete with horses?
If you fall down in a land of peace,
How will you do in the thicket of the Jordan?
Life is not about magical formulas.
It is about finding God in our dark days, our suffering.
What is the attitude of my heart?

Over and over in God's Word, He calls our infidelity out. Unfaithfulness. Adultery. He likens Jesus relationship to the Church (us) as a Bridegroom and His bride. One of the hardest things in this life to get over, to forgive, is betrayal. For some reason if you've ever been betrayed, (and who of us has not?) it keeps popping its ugly head back into the relationship. Our hearts tend to wall up and say, "Watch out. They hurt you before. They can hurt you again."
ReplyDeleteGod is hurt by our adultery. God knows what it feels like to be betrayed. Yet He calls for us again: Forget your idols. There is no breath in them. They are worthless, a work of mockery. And God is relentless in His pursuit of us. Return. Cleanse your heart from all that is Not Me. I want to be your One and Only.
Thank you Annette. So so good!
