May 14 "The Lord is With You When You Are With Him" II Chronicles 15:2

The Sun does not hit the valleys of our lives.
He is the Lord of our Sun and our Shade.
Are we with Him in both the mountaintops and valleys of our lives?
That's the real question.
The Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him.  II Chronicles 15:2  Be Strong.  Do No Lose Your Courage.  When Asa heard these words, he took courage and stood up and changed what he was doing.  About Face.

Asa had just returned from boasting in battle.  Someone called him a pious prince.  A braggy king.  Asa knew there were more dangerous enemies at home.  Unconquered.  Dark shade.

And a prophet shows up and delivers a riveting message:  remove the idols. The prophet came not to congratulate but to restore this leader and his followers to their God.  To bring Light into Darkness.

In his commentary, Matthew Henry talks about how these people "were vexed with all adversity, yet in their perplexity, they turned to God by repentance, prayer, and reformation."  Therefore, this maxim, "God is with us while we are with Him," is written for that day and this day. The invitation is not a closed one.  The door is wide open.

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Psalm 121:5
Lord, You are our Keeper.
You are Our Shade on our Right Side.
Help me live in The Shade.
And stay with You!
Not my agenda!

  1. I marked that same verse, Bev: "the Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. "
A serious warning and a comforting provision all in the same thought...
Let us walk in His mighty Shadow under the shelter of our glorious God's wing of protection.

One king follows another, some good, some bad, and God continues His faithful message---Return to Me and I will return to you.

  2. Annette, you took the words out of my mouth and wrote an eloquent response. The Lord is with me when I am with Him. If I seek Him, I will find Him. I want to remain with Him. I do not want to be a prodigal daughter, though I am thankful He is ever waiting for the prodigals to return to Him.
