What do we do in the Shadows of our lives?
"Now the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, so that the Lord gave them into the hands of the Philistines forty years." Judges 13:1. Will these Israelites ever learn to lean in, lean hard? One couple pushed through. Manoah and his wife. They waited on God. Hoped in God's mercy on their long-suffering childlessness. Mercies that you wait a lifetime for are called signal mercies. They send a sign to all God's people that He is coming! God shows up when you need Him but it will be in His Ways. We waited 7 years for the signal mercy of our last child. God so showed up for us through our dark days. These beautiful parents of Samson. Childless for so long. They will now have a son.
And the Spirit of the LORD began to stir Samson. Judges 13:25. But he married a daughter of the Philistines with his parents wondering why, with God knowing why. And he killed a thousand of their men with a fresh jawbone of a donkey. Heaps upon Heaps of men. And he judged 20 years.
Hope in God's mercies.
God has done so much for each of us. He would not have done what He has if He was going to leave us to ourselves. It is His Favor, just as it was for the parents of Samson.
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Because You are my help,
I sing in the Shadows.
My soul clings to You.
Your right hand upholds me.
Ps 63:7-8
May the Favor our LORD,
Be upon each of us.
Confirm for us,
Your Work.
Ps 90:17
OVERVIEW: Judges 13-15

Technology is great if it works. I skipped the high school musical last night to post. Really wanted to go again to the musical. Wouldn't think of skipping this. And the post doesn't go through---my apologies. I had to buy a new cell phone yesterday. A random person promised me all the data would restore to my new phone. It didn't. I'm out-of-town with no data---just a cell that dials. I can check my computer when I return---along with a trip to the Apple Store to find 100 apps. I called Apple Care---they said I could download each one separately. No, I'm on vacation this weekend. We're talking about surrender here...even with cell phones. I need to give it up. My Love to each of you. #toomuchinformation
ReplyDeleteYou are loved and appreciated. Knew there was a more than valid reason why the post didn't show up. You are so faithful and I so look forward to your words and insights. I do not take it for granted and do value your faithfulness.
DeleteI agree with Mary Lou. We are so blessed here to have you show up each day here with meaty words to feast on. Signal mercies is a new term to me. So many miracles, acts of mercy, take a whole lifetime--in fact, each life devoted to Him is a signal mercy, when lived well, pointing to Him, full of His Grace poured out.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow, we celebrate Palm Sunday, and proclaim Hosanna, God saves, Hosanna in the highest! He reigns! And He is coming again in victory soon. May we be found ready.
