The moment they have walked and waited to find has finally happened.
This is their Promised Land.
Theirs.
Joshua grabs for Nothing only Someone!
God promised the descendants of Abraham the Land of Canaan. And we see in this chapter, the fulfillment of God's Promise to them. Fulfillment that came through wilderness, wanderings, and wars. It was messy and meandering and murky at times. It didn't fit in a neat nicely new Christian package. Unpredictable. Wild. Right on Time. "Not one of the good Promises which the LORD had made to the House of Israel failed; all came to pass." Joshua 21:45. Not One! Not one for you. Not one for me. It is a very Good God working through our wilderness.
It was a patient, kindhearted follower named Joshua that it happened in a blink. He divided the land to the satisfaction of all---really? How does that happen with people curved in on themselves? Joshua served himself last. The one who led this Conquest of Canaan. No first settlements here. He was willing to lead his family to wait for the good of those he led. Willing to be undone until they were all done. He even chose a city that had to be built---while others moved into houses that they did not build. Help us all to have this kind of heart---willing to put those we lead ahead of ourselves.
PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Father, just as the Tribes go up to Jerusalem to give thanks to the Name of the LORD,
We come to you this day, in our own wilderness and wandering, to give you thanks!
We pray for that peace of Jerusalem!
Where all traveled to worship You!
God, we pray that Peace would be within us for Christ Himself is our peace.
May we be secure in Your Love Alone and find peace within these walls!
Thank You for always seeking our good!
Psalm 122
OVERVIEW: Joshua 19-21

Joshua - a true example of a warrior and servant of God. He did not put himself 1st. He trusted all God said, as a result Israel entered into His rest.
ReplyDeleteSo the Lord gave Israel all the land which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they possessed it and lived in it. And the Lord gave them rest on every side, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers, and no one of all their enemies stood before them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hand. Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass.
Just as for Israel, all the promises the Lord makes to us in His Word will come to fast. May we dare to believe Him
Praying for the peace of Jerusalem this day. May all the good promises which the Lord has made for His chosen nation come to pass. May we all live in the place of rest He has prepared for our souls. Even in the wilderness. Even though the enemies surround. Even so.
