Proverbs 10:8
The homes of good people hold together.
Proverbs 10:9
Better to be ordinary and work for a living
than act important and starve in the process.
Proverbs 10:25
Worry weighs us down;
a cheerful word picks us up.
These 3 verses make me feel shame and appeal. "Expect to feel the shame of exposure..I made life to work only if lived according to My Design." Thy Will be done...my will undone.
Back from our road trip today. Visited 16 people in 5 days after the wedding. Worth every wink trying to stay awake these days. Pretty precious time with lifelong friends.
ReplyDeleteToday is Britt's last day home before he goes to college. I'm going to enjoy it to the hilt. Will take him to my favorite restaurant for lunch and to Floyd's and we'll make a
Walmart stop to get ready for camp tomorrow. He leaves for Kanakuk in the morning where he will be a counselor for the rest of the summer at K-1. Where the bell tolls.
He'll check in at UT the day he gets back. Kind of surreal.
Thinking about each of you as I arrive back home to reality of life. It's been an awesome wedding week and after-glow. God really pulled this wedding together for sanguine Blair who planned and carried out the entire details from start to finish. A precious day before a Holy God!
PS - Remind me sometime to tell you how we almost burned the place down...ha.
"The more talk, the less truth;
ReplyDeletethe wise measure their words."
When I think about "chatterbox" several people come to mind, but especially my mom. Rarely did my father ever get a word in because my mom always did the talking. When he did talk, I listened closely! Oh, how I wish I could talk to him today. Sometimes I think people do a lot of talking because they get nervous and uncomfortable with silence. I am admire people who are comfortable enough in their skin to be quiet. One day I hope to get there with my husband. To be quiet, yet comfortable and content.
There was a lot of wisdom in today's readings and I thought so many were blog worthy!
Bev, what a special time! I thoroughly enjoyed all of the pictures of the wedding! You must be exhausted, but it sounds like you cherished every moment! Have a great day getting Britt ready!
Enough said...
Love,
Angie xoxo
Praying for Britt at Kamp Kanakuk....wish he could have been there earilier this summer when my oldest grandchildren were there..it would have been so neat had he been Trey's counselor. WOW. what a God thing that could have been. My daughter said the bell tolling during the closing ceremony was so awesome to her and she's been saved since a young child..never grows old. So thankful you had such a wonderful wedding and then the road trip. Loved the quote..I made life to life ONLY IF lived by My Design...that is oh, so true. That is the reason our lives become unhinged and those walking without Him are so floundering around and so confused etc. Loving you from a distance...write me and fill me in, please...may this be the cherry on the top of the sundae of days since the wedding...your day with Britt...love you so much in Him..Mary Lou
ReplyDelete"You can't find firm footing in a swamp, but life rooted in God stands firm." (Prov. 12:3 The Message)
ReplyDeleteI love Jesus' definition of wisdom:
"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a WISE man who built his house on a rock." (Matt. 7:24 NKJV)
He goes on to say that the storms of life will not destroy this man's house. He has a solid foundation - Jesus. His roots go deep and transformation within is taking place. His obedience isn't mere 'duty'. It's a responding that stems from relationship.
I've also felt the shame of exposure as I'm reading in Proverbs...foolishness exposed, arrogance crushed. L.Crabb says:
"let that whet your appetite for holiness, release your love, and fill you with hope." 66LL
Bev, welcome back! I'm so glad you had a time to get away and visit with friends.
Praying that you will have a very special time with Britt today. Your love for him, and your other children, is so evident.
I am 'Forever Grateful' for Christ, my Solid Rock. Praising Him that He is not finished with me yet!
Love,
FG
Scotty Smith's prayer blog, "Heavenward", is on wisdom today.

Bev, enjoy every minute today!
ReplyDeleteLots of verses, but I tag a few for my emphasis/focus today:
“An evasive eye is a sign of trouble ahead, but an open, face-to-face meeting results in peace.” I hate confrontation, but I’m making a long overdue call today.
"A wise heart takes orders; an empty head will come unglued.” Today, I love The Message and laugh as I picture my unglued head.
“The road to life is a disciplined life; ignore correction and you're lost for good.” Reading more about spiritual disciplines lately, and long for order in chaotic days. I’ve always been a little bit of a rebel and need this lesson to not just be words on a page but a lifestyle change.
"God's blessing makes life rich; nothing we do can improve on God.” How rich we are in Christ Jesus; He’s the ultimate best.
“The speech of a good person clears the air; the words of the wicked pollute it.” My heart’s prayer this morning is to clear the air with my words in that long overdue talk.
“Fools have short fuses and explode all too quickly; the prudent quietly shrug off insults.” Just a note to self next time I get ready to spew.
“Worry weighs us down; a cheerful word picks us up.” Not insincere, but cheerful-that’s doable.
“A life devoted to things is a dead life, a stump; a God-shaped life is a flourishing tree.” Praying that we open our lives for God to shape us and the mark of our God shaping is unmistakably His.
How do you choose just one verse? All of these are wise sayings. I took one chapter and just pulled the good truth out to be the focus.

Pray for my niece, please! Her name is Sara and she's pregnant with her first baby. I just received a call from my sister (her mom) and her water just broke. She and her husband live in New York and we are all in Georgia...and this is the first grandchild, and the first great-grandchild in our family.
Sara is a lawyer. The thing about that is she has worked with Emory in Atlanta and knows all the bad things that can go wrong in the medical treatment of patients.
Just say a prayer for her and her husband, Robert, and this new baby coming...Daniel...
Thank you!
Praying for Sara and Daniel this morning, Deborah. Let us know how they're doing.
ReplyDeleteWe broke our lease on our apartment yesterday. A leap of faith. Where will we go? We'll hold fast to our good God and ... to be continued ...
ReplyDeleteBev, I think it is so God that we are in this special book during your "leap of faith."
ReplyDeleteTrust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path. Proverbs 3:5,6
I wonder...I wonder...if God is giving you your heart's desire. Bev, what is your heart's desire? Search it out. Your life is an open road right now. It is no accident that this has happened when your children are leaving the nest and life is so simple...just you and Bob. Look deeply into each other's eyes and ask each other about each of your hearts' desires. God want to bless you both. I just know it in my heart! Eyes on Him. Walk on water. Don't look down.
