May 14 ... 2 Chron 13 - 17 "A Million-Man Army Attacking on Every Side"
2 Chronicles 13: 2 War broke out between Abijah and Jeroboam. Abijah started out with 400,000 of his best soldiers; Jeroboam countered with 800,000 of his best. If you just look at the numbers, there is NO WAY Abijah can win. Abijah speaks to Jeroboam in verse 9: "Look at what you have done---you threw out the priests of God for priests of No-God. 2 Chronicles 13:10 - "We're sticking with God. We have not traded Him in for the latest model. Verse 11 says: We're keeping our daily morning and evening prayers. I love that. Makes me want to do that. 2 Chronicles 13:12 God is on our side; he's our leader. And his priests with trumpets are all ready to blow the signal to battle. O Israel—don't fight against God, the God of your ancestors. You will not win this battle." Jeroboam with all his mighty warriors surprised them from the rear (while Abijah was praying desperately to his God) and J. lost the battle! Judah was attacked front and back. God gave them victory on all sides, hands-down because they trusted God. Because of incidents in my childhood, I have felt like I have had to watch my back. No more. God is taking care of me on all sides. He's got my back! Again, another show of the weaker warriors overcoming the mighty. Abijah died and his son, Asa, became the next king in chapter 14. He did things right in God's eyes and so did his son Jehoshaphat. Asa's army of 580,000 courageous warriors were attacked by Zerah the Ethiopian and his million-man army. 2 Chronicles 14:10 Asa prayed to God, "O God, you aren't impressed by numbers or intimidated by a show of force once you decide to help: Help us, O God; we have come out to meet this huge army because we trust in you and who you are." Asa asked God for help! He so trusted God even though he wasn't perfect, Asa even removed his mother from her throne for honoring sex gods. God defeated the Ethiopians million-man army. Wonder what God is saying to each of us where the odds look insurmountable. Okay, I just broke down crying asking God for help. I have some odds like that this day. For me this day, the question is this...Do I want God's Love more than I want man's love? Is God enough for me?

Bev, as I read your comments this morning, I felt your heart crying out when you said you broke down and cried, asking God for help. Even though I have never met you personally, and we are across the country from each other, I feel your pain and would like to give you a big hug and we could cry together. I have been dealing, I thought succesfully, with my problems with my daughter and son-in-law, but I still am walking around with a broken heart. I cried and cried last night, it is not over, I still have deep layers of pain to go through yet, and it is a very long process to heal one layer at a time. As I read the message, I was impressed by the passage: "God will stick with you as long as you stick with him. If you look for him he will let himself be found; but if you leave him he will leave you. For a long time Israel didn't have the real God, nor did they have the help of priest, or teacher or book. But when they were in trouble and got serious, and decided to seek God, the God of Israel, God let himself be found." So today, as I sit here still crying, I will stick to God, he will stick with me as long as I stick to him. We have the resources that Israel didn't have, we have the message, teachers, 66 Love letters and our Pearl-sisters. Our God hears, cares and heals. He is my comfort, my strong tower, my strength and my shield. I pray for you, and for all the pearls on this precious string. I know God has placed us all here at this place and this time for a divine reason. and He will turn our sorrow into joy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteYou two have blessed me today, Bev and JHPG.
We must stick with Him!
2 Chronicles is a good letter to me. I love the fact that we are always a majority with God. No matter how many enemies come against us.
Praying for each one of us "Pearls."
I am comforted by all of your comments and miss y'all when you can't post. Ang...I think about you and hope you are doing good. And each one of you who come here for this time to talk about our love letters from our GOD.
I am amazed sometimes at all the details kept by these people of God! God was thinking about us then when He had these details written down, preserving each tiny detail. Just so we could read this love letter and love Him more. He loves me more. I'm feeling that every time I read about His Plan marching on until I got to join this "Good News" family. Now, instead of reading the story, I'm part of the story!
JHpaintergirl thank you for sharing your heart today. Though I may not give way to physical tears I feel an ache in my heart for those layers of healing yet to come forth in me.
ReplyDeleteBev, Jan and my other String of Pearl Sistas may we always remember God is present and we can call on HIM no matter what and in any situation. God is faithful to a faithless people as we learned earlier on this Journey through the Message and 66LL.
Thank you for loving me for the Pearl that I am on this String of God's Love.
Deborah,

This is another Song I must Sing.

"Pearl Sisters" - Oh, I just love the way that sounds, and I just adore and love each of you, and your comments have truly touched me today.
ReplyDeleteI am reminded in 2 Chron. Ch. 15: 1-2 as Asa welcomed discussions and guidance from people who had a close relationship with God. Azariah gave the armies an important warning and encouraged them to stay close to God.
As children of God, we are encourage to stay in contact with people who are filled with God's Spirit. As "Pearl Sisters" we spend regular time in discussion and prayer with each other, and as God has called us together in 2010 from across this country to love and share with one another, He also is walking with us to grow and mature us in His Word, His Promises, and most of all His LOVE!
I am blessed by our "sisterhood" through this blog. And THANK each of you for always writing and sharing what the Lord has shared with you. It is a blessing!!
