102 - "Groundswell of Hope" Joshua 19-21; Luke 11:29-54

This verse, Joshua 21:44, is a groundswell of hope up to this very age.  Not only did God give them rest from 40 years of wilderness travels, and rest from the fatigue of battle against the Canaanites, but also rest from the pressures and thoughts and emotions within where they battled too.  All the days of Joshua.  God gave rest on every side.

Oh God!  You write these verses as a ground of hope and confidence to me this very night.  Give me rest on every side.  I've spent decades following You and have sought a rest from the physical labor and the woes of life.  This recorded experience stands my ground, my confidence in You and what You will yet do.  In due time.

The crowd swelled in Luke 11:29 and Jesus told them they are looking for "proof" before hope. All looking for something to titillate your curiosity, satisfy your lust for miracle. The only proof we will ever get is the Jonah-proff given to the Nineties---looks like no proof at all.
