The Kingdom
Eccl 12: 13-14 - There's no end to the publishing of books, and constant study wears you out so you're no good for anything else. The last and final word is this: Fear God. Do what he tells you.
So where am I today? Am I trying to be understood? Am I trying to connect? A friend told me last summer that there is a hole in my heart. What will fill that hole?
Three verses stayed with me from Ecclesiastes in this Story being written:
Ecclesiastes 3:1. There is a time for every event under heaven. I gleaned from the commentaries about why Solomon wrote this: be even in the events of life---not leaning in hope that this will make me happy nor sinking in despair that this has happened. Walk into the events of this day on purpose expecting God.
Ecclesiastes 3:3. God has put the event of Eternity in our hearts. Solomon penned these words in his event search, his trial of every commodity and every experience.
Ecclesiastes 12:3. All has been heard. Here is the conclusion: Fear God and keep his commandments.
The end of the matter. It's our whole duty.
