336 - “Serve The Creator Not the Creature” Romans 1-4; Acts 20:1-3

We open a book today, the Book of Romans, that Paul writes to one church in Rome.  Paul had never crossed into the city yet his heart of obedience floods through the Roman gates.  This letter to the Romans is inspired by God.  Every weighty word.  A theology of obedience of faith. Love for these people whom Paul had not even met.  A Vision for their holiness because---they "served the creature rather than the Creator." Rom 1:25.

God gave all of us a Book.  2 Kings 22:10.  Yet, these Romans' vision was like the words of a book that were sealed shut. Isa 29:11.  They draw near to God with their mouth and honor Him with their lips but their hearts are far from Him.  Isa 29:13.

Oh God, thank you for this Book.
And I praise you for my friends who are faithful to You.
And I pray for each friend who reads here about your Vision, your inspired words.   For what we weep for this day, for our deep cares, may your Vision not delay.  Come Lord Jesus on all of us that we may serve Our Creator and not created things.  Draw our hearts near to You! Paul proves that Jews and Gentiles stand upon the same level ground before the justice of God. Rom. 2:10. What I may not see, God directs. Leave the matter in his lap.

Father, things may be passing us by. May we seek things above. May I make my ambition to lead a quiet life. I Thes 4:11. This lull that I face, lighten my darkness. I trust.
