Jacob, near death, blesses all of his boys.
God will be with you, Joseph. Gen 48:21.
And our hearts quake at these dying words of Jacob.
And Joseph weeps white-hot tears
of both sorrow over his brothers distrust of him still
and compassion for them to make their peace with God, not him.
You see, the brother could not contain the dreamer in a cistern.
They trinketed his life away but God secured his destiny.
God will surely visit you.
Genesis 48:21
DEAR GOD, CHANGE US IN ONE OF THESE 10,000 MOMENTS: When others throw us under the bus, when they distance themselves far away, when they don't count our opinion as worth much---may we make our Peace with You. Just like this throw-away, now Prime Minister of State, Joseph. Come visit us today, O God. May we answer the doorbell.
PHOTO: And the sun sets for the last time on Jacob's freighted words, weighty life.
