December 9 "Wanton Curiosity" Philippians 5, 6

"I take hold of that for which also I was taken hold of by Christ Jesus."  Phil 3:12He took hold of me first.  How do I grasp in the midst of grappling?  Count all things to be a loss.  And.  Phil 3:15 - if in anything you think you are not pressing on toward the goal of this High Calling, well, I mean this is the best news ever:  God promises to reveal it to us.  So, do we just wait and long and hope?  No, here lies a text to rightly divide:  Is my god my belly?  Is my god my need for approval?  Is my god my need for ministry?  Is my god my need for the good life here?  The answer is:  Our citizenship is in heaven.  Phil 3:20.   So.  Stand firm.  Rejoice in the Lord.Let your gentleness be known. In everything, by prayer & petition, pray.  And the peace of God, surpassing understanding, guards.

"Wanton Curiosity" says we have to find something new to say.  We have to have a fresh way to present this.  We have to serve up better today than we were last week.  A better worship service.  A better sermon.  A better Christmas. A better post. What about the tried-and-true Words of God over the ages.

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Oh God, wanton curiosity drives me to compare and compete and contest.  Help me way down deep where it really counts to learn better to take hold of You. Help us all to rightly divide the Word of God.  Help us all to pray in everything.
