Long Journey. Don't know where it will end for us. All eyes on God!
And all I can really do is this----put my own eyes on God. Can't make my loves do it.
It took him 20 years to build God's house and his own house. 2 Chron 8:1.
As I write on this Father's Day, I have moved through decades today, over and over again. Peering through pictures remembering that time--- if I was really happy, present, kind, in love.
Raising children is one of the hardest jobs around. I may be a two-week old emptynester, but it's still excruciatingly confusing and compelling at the same time to parent day in/day.
One of the commentaries put it in straight talk:
"It sometimes requires more wisdom and resolution to govern a family in the fear of God,
than to govern a kingdom with reputation." Matthew Henry. There, he said it.
May God receive our humble parenting work today. Henry went on to say that the difficulty increases when a man has a hindrance instead of a help meet in the wife of his bosom. Or what about a child hindrance? When we don't know what to do, well, our eyes are still on God.

2 Chron 20:12.
Searching for God's Grace proves far better than any possession we own.
Searching for the Truth of the Swift Word offers welcome to melt our hearts,
far better than any safety net here.
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
Oh! God, Help us let go of clenched fists. "May we let go and leave the children of this world to scramble. Yes, let them scramble for the toys of this world. May we, as children of God, lay up our treasure in heaven, that where our treasure is, our hearts also may be." And if we have any different attitude, would you reveal it to us that we may treasure the right things, eternal things that will last.

PHOTO: A train headed to Fort Worth. Where I spent most of my life. Where I asked way too few questions. Where I loved deeply. Where my parenting took place. Where my heart melted. Where the Great Divide changed my life for good forever. Where I met a very Good God. Grace & Truth.
And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my rules, then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’ But if you turn aside from following me, you or your children, and do not keep my commandments and my statutes that I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, then I will cut off Israel from the land that I have given them, and the house that I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight, and Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. And this house will become a heap of ruins....
ReplyDeleteHow easy it is to declare I will walk before the Lord and keep His commandments when I am one step away from leaving His path and opening the door to sin. May we be ever mindful to walking with Him.
