July 28 "What Would Repentance Look Like for Me" I Kings 20, 21

Oh! How haughty. "Have you found me, O my enemy?"
And they pierce me for the last words out of my mouth were about being taken advantage of.  And my default was mocking haughtiness.

Elijah has found Ahab.
Because Ahab "sold himself to do what is evil." I Kings 21:20
And Elijah does not mince his words:  God will utterly burn you up...the dogs will eat your wife who incited you...and more.

No More Haughtiness here.
What happened to Ahab.
He listened to the words of God.
Tore his clothes.
Put on sackcloth.
No More abominably going after idols.

And the words spoken by a Holy God sear the horror of it all.
"Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before Me?"  I Kings 21:29
Oh, God.  Is that what you hear from us?  Humble words?

COME BOLDLY:  Timeless Prayers
Oh, Father! May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be pleasing and humble before You.  We long to hear You say:  Have you seen how Annette, Mary Lou, Jan, Holly, and anyone who may read this today humbles herself before Me?  We so thank you for what you are doing in our lives this very day to draw us to Yourself.

PHOTO:  My son took this photo and sent it to me.  He said:  All the beauty---how can we not believe.  The Maker of Heaven and Earth is calling us to Himself.  Humble Yourself Under His Mercy.

  1. Merciful. God of His Word. Because Ahab repented, he was spared the horror of his punishment. But woe to his son...
So thankful that our repentance is complete in Jesus, and praying for His love and mercy to extend a thousand generations!

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. ~Deut 7:9

  2. Let me know grace as I flounder and fall time and time again.
Tears fill my eyes and I would weep if I weren't at work. I'm living by faith, fighting doubts, fear, anger, pondering TRUST today. Ahab trusted, God listened and saved him
Here I am Lord, I'm yours, save me.
