The LORD told Moses to go up Mountain Abarim and take a gaze at the Promised Land where he will never set foot. What went through Moses' head? You are going to die after that last look. Don't linger there, Moses. Your rebellion will close your eyes. And Moses replied: "Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man" in. my. place. so that the congregation of the LORD may not be as sheep that have no shepherd. Numbers 27:36. Moses did not call them "my people" but "God's people." We belong to Him. Called. Numbered. Grasped. Held. Bought.
And in an act of obedience, Moses laid his hand on Joshua's head. Here, Joshua. This is no longer my calling to enter this Promised Land. You will do it, instead. Moses let go and let God.
COME BOLDLY: Timeless Prayers
God, this very day, may we let go of what we hold in our hands, our hearts.
God, this very day, may we let You tell us what the next step is in our lives.
God, this very day, may we find that rest that Moses did when he folded his arms.
Just like the folded cloth in the tomb that spoke: It is done. May we do Your Will not ours.
