And where were you when I laid the foundations of this earth?
What causes a man to repent? When he hears the words of God? When he humbles himself before the Everlasting to Everlasting Hope. When he bows his heart before Divine Providence giving full sway. When he sees with the eyes of his heart that God even provides prey for ravens---why not for me? Job 38:41.
God calls to Job to compare his little life with God's Everlasting One; compare the Omniscient God with his limited knowledge; compare the Mighty Power of God in the seas where we cannot find Him, with our limitless wordless power.
From a whirlwind God speaks. That's enough to get anyone's attention. "Dress for action like a man. I will question you and you make it known to me: Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?" Job 38:4. Where are you, Adam? Where were you, Job? And where am I?
COME BOLDLY p. 201
"Be yourself exactly before God, and present your problems, the things you know you have come to your wits' end about." Oswald Chambers could not have said it more fittingly for my life, this day. Wits' end. So, help me tie the knot and hang on. Make us different this day as we pray to be strong and fear not. "Say to those who have an anxious heart, "Be strong; fear not!" Isaiah 35:4.

Can you bind the chains of Pleiades or loose the cords of Orion is one of the many questions God asks Job, My answer like Job's is no. Why is then at times, I feel compelled to tell God exactly how to do something? May I listen more and more and speak less and less.
ReplyDeleteJob 38:11...."when I said, This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt?: That was humbling to me. I have watched the waves come on shore and they truly only go so far and then recede back out to sea. The Almighty has set their boundaries and they abide by His word. Why oh Why do I think I am excused and do not have to abide by His word. He is Holy Father, the everlasting Father, the Almighty God.
ReplyDeleteAny one of these miracles cannot be explained. But try to grasp that every one of these miracles must take place every day! I can hardly imagine Job hearing these words spoken by the Miracle Maker.
ReplyDeleteMy heart faints at the magnificence of His power. God's answer is not what Job expected. Job's world began and ended with Job. God didn't answer a single one of Job's questions, not because they were trivial, but because He wants to remind him that every detail is under His constant care. God is telling Job that He cares about details Job never even thought about. He alone. All glory and power and wisdom
"Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen." Rev. 7:12
"Have you comprehended the expanse of the earth?
ReplyDeleteDeclare, if you know all this." ~Job 38:18
Some days it's just great to have His Word... and Believe it to the core.
Lord, please help us to Glorify Your name in all we do today and teach us how You want us to point others to You! In Jesus' name.
