December 10 "The Captain of Our Souls Fights For Us" Eph 6:10

Our life is a warfare
A struggle with the calamities that come our way every new day
A wrestle against the powers of this dark world
Warfare calls for:
Courage.  Stout-hearts.  Well-armed.  Persistence.
Ephesians 4:7 "But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift." We all can love and war because we've all been given grace.  Be Strong in the LORD and the Strength of His Might.  Stand against the schemes conjured up to take you down.  Fight.  We are all called to be soldiers for the Captain of our souls.  Resist the temptations for there is a power in you that is greater than you think.  After having done everything to stand firm, Stand Firm.  Eph. 6:10-16

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
Father, You've spoken weighty words in the second half of Ephesians.  Words we are called to live by.  Help us to wrestle well in this world of calamity and darkness. Hear our voice when we call to you, Lord.  Be merciful and answer.  When my heart says:  Seek His Face!  May I let go of everything else.  Your Face, O LORD, I will seek. Psalm 27:8. By this marvelous power that stirs within me.

  1. "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil."

Right now in this season, my most precious and scarce resource is time. I feel like I'm doing a thousand things, and none to the glory of God. Even my worthwhile activities are done with a half-heartedness and "just get it done and check it off the list" mentality. I needed this reminder this morning. I am always multi-tasking (reading email while talking on the phone, checking messages while driving, etc.) I read an article the other day that said that our productivity is decreased by 40% when we are multi-tasking. I am not so busy I can't sit down and focus on one thing at a time. Even as I write this, I am watching the evening news and making mistakes in my typing, and most likely coherence. Lord, the days are evil and busyness is not Godliness. Give us wisdom to discern what we need to do for ourselves and others, and to determine the fluff that is unnecessary. The tyranny of the urgent should never supersede the priority of the important. Help us to prioritize with Your wisdom and show us what work of ours has eternal impact and what can go. Help us to walk by faith, Lord. Show us each step of that better Way!`
