December 20 "We Are Guests Here" Hebrews 11:13

And One Day, Christ will say, Welcome Home!

It's not that you crucify every single How? question. You crucify the ones whose intentions are not requests to go deeper in knowledge and understanding.  Those How? questions that are really demands for a formula to make our lives work, those are the ones Martin Luther was speaking about---crucify them. God will answer our questions but those that come out of not-so-good places in our hearts, need to be buried. We are the clay and He is the Potter.

Will God find faith when He looks down into our hearts? The mark of a servant is faith that God will do what He says He will do. "Faith proves to the mind, the reality of things that cannot be seen by the bodily eye." Matthew Henry. May we, this very day, prove to these strong persuasions of ours that although we cannot see, There is a Reality that exists that I must place my trust in.

And here it is, in the Word. Examples of true faith. And we fall forward not knowing what may befall us around the next bend of life. "These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth." Hebrews 11:13. It's not the way the story plays out in some places today. That part about not receiving the things promised. How do you live that way? There's a good How? question. How can we really find God in the midst of whatever we face this day? How can we take a deeper look within at what makes us think this world is our home?

PRAYER FROM PSALMS
"Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry;
hold not your peace at my tears.
Hold not your peace at my tears.
For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers."
Psalm 39:12
