The wind blows wherever it pleases.
You hear its sound,
but you cannot tell where it comes from
or where it is going.
So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.
John 3: 8
Then, it happened to David on the third day of a raid by the Amalekites. They carried off David's two wives, took captive all the women of the town. You cannot tell which way the Spirit of God will blow when we face dire circumstances like David did. "David was greatly distressed because his people spoke of stoning him because the people were embittered over losing their sons and daughters. But, David strengthened himself in the LORD His God." I Samuel 30:6. It doesn't appear favorable for David at all. Deserted. Distressed. Dismayed. Destroyed. No formula to get out of this one. Just a desperate follower of God surrendered to whatever plan He executes---I mean, we are supposed to encourage ourselves in the LORD not encourage ourselves that the circumstances will turn out in our favor. So, what does it mean to strengthen ourselves in the LORD this very day?

David sought the Lord and the Lord's answer to circumstances. Thy will be done.
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful thing to strengthen yourself in the Lord as David did. He knew where his ever-present Help resided. He knew to look deeply into God, to press close while in distress.
ReplyDeleteHave you all been following the new discussions of dark matter in physics? Think about how closely it resembles the Holy Spirit. A friend pointed this out last night, and I am once again awed beyond awe of our God and His majesty. This dark matter holds everything together, and is what they believe is the creating force, the 'thing' that gives shape to the universe's visible structures. Just more evidence of science catching up with what God has told us all along in His Word.
