What is the point of the cogent stories of kings, some good, some bad?
The point is singularly *this*
Do what is right in God's Sight.
But remember, as Tim Keller says,
He is your King, not your Consultant.
2 Chron 24:2 - Joash did what was right in the eyes of the LORD all his days.
What does that mean?
Things may look pretty good
but even righteous moves can come from evil players.
The devil disguises himself as an angel of light
and so do his servants who parade righteous living
but their hearts are far from it.
Masquerades to make you think it's righteous.
2 Chron 11:15
We have to see through this world
to the Unseen One and
what is the right thing to do.
May my mind and heart not be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. (2 Cor. 11:3)
ReplyDeletethose words, "proclaiming another Jesus" in today's readings stand out. Devils disguised as light, they infiltrate even our own churches. Seems their word is so very close to truth, but not quite. Just enough off to land you in hell. "All roads lead to God..." "Jesus was a good man but not God." "We study Jesus, too." "We believe in Christmas." The thing is Jehovah's witnesses and Mormons go two by two and take the Great Command more seriously than most of us, converting daily people. Lord help us to be right in Your Eyes, with pure motives and pure devotion to Jesus our Lord.
