I Cor 6:12 "Dominated" (August 10)

What dominates my thoughts?  Trying to deal with my problems.

What dominates my actions?  Trying to make a living to live comfortably.

What dominates my motivations?  Trying to please the Lord.

What dominates my feelings?  Feelings of failure and fear.

What dominates my writing?  A Sovereign held pen pushing broken strokes.

What dominates me?  Solid Desires to move forward.  Strong Drive for Eternity.

Paul writes to these floundering unfaithful Christians in Corinth:
I Cor 6:12 "I will not be dominated by anything."
That covers it all.  Nothing!
Why not rather suffer wrong?
Why not rather be defrauded?
Why not?
No one wants us to get the short stick in life.
No.  No one.
Maybe God does.
It's all right with God if we suffer well.
Live well.  Love well.  Suffer well.  I Cor 6:7
This Day Forward.

  1. The genealogy of David, and, therefore, the genealogy of our Lord. . .

I've been adding to our family tree some details that I have. I have added a photo, or in some cases, a penned letter from husband to wife, or in others, some momento of their possession, a war record, or at a minimum, a census where they were counted in the household.

It's hard to make a life count in retrospect, but I would like for future generations, if the Lord tarries in His return, to know these lives were important enough to someone to save a treasure or a momento. Even a name recorded is a tribute to its holder.

Those honored to be among the direct ancestors, the direct descendants of David and thus, the ancestors of our Lord, are recorded for all of history. Each name represents a life, either well lived for God or squandered. Each name represents a span of time, either long lived or short. Each name is someone God gave the privilege of speaking a given name in this Living Book.

He also has penned each saved soul, whether a life well lived or not, in the Book of Life. He gives us significance. We matter to Him. He is the keeper of the stars, and yet He is mindful of each one of us, our names, and even the details of our lives. We are His family. Unfathomable!

"But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

  2. Wow, Annette. Thank you. You put a whole new light on reading all of the begats and who was whose son/daughter. Oh, so true. He thought enough of them to record their name for everyone thru the ages to read. You are doing your family a great service to do what you are doing to record things about their ancestors. David has a cousin who has really gotten into the family tree thing and is doing it well....he has included my family and even on my dad's side, for in actuality that does tie a lot of people to you. IF we all had kept such good records we might have a better sense or feeling of family and belonging. Perhaps that is why the Lord has included these family lines in His Word, so that His people of Israel can connect with each other and see how special they were to Him.
    Just a thought.

Maybe I am living with the wrong determination for my life, how I want it to be the one He wants/desires for me.

  3. I have been working on our geneology as well. I am thankful for the searchers, seekers and patient archivers who kept looking for the truth.
As we read, digging deeper into the word, it becomes life. Truth hidden for centuries is revealed.

  4. Geneolgies fascinate me. I've always been interested in not only my own, but those of others. God knows and remembers all names on countless lists. We've been bought with a price, may my life glorify Him.
