December 28 ... Rev 9 - 12 "Live to Love Not Control"

Revelation 10

Rev 10: 8 -11The voice out of Heaven spoke to me again: "Go, take the book held open in the hand of the Angel astride sea and earth." I went up to the Angel and said, "Give me the little book." He said, "Take it, then eat it. It will taste sweet like honey, but turn sour in your stomach." I took the little book from the Angel's hand and it was sweet honey in my mouth, but when I swallowed, my stomach curdled. Then I was told, "You must go back and prophesy again over many peoples and nations and languages and kings."

"In The Diary of a Country Priest, Bernanos thought it signficant that jesus did not say, 'You are the honey of the world,' but rather, 'You are the salt of the earth.'  Honey makes everything swet.  Salt bites as it heals and preserves from further decay."  66 LL.

"Things are not as they seem.  Evil, though widespread, is not winning.  Faithfulness, though costly, is not futile.  Affliction, though continuing, will end.  The Lion's roar will soon be heard.  Until then, reign with the Lamb.  Live to Love, not Control."

  1. I just don't understand much of Revelations, is it literal or poetic?
What I am impressed by is the immense power of God.
I am in awe of what has been and what is to come.

  2. I don't know what already happened and what is to come. It seems it goes a little back and forth, or was what happened before a foreshadowing of that to come? I get lost, too, Jan, but like you, am awestruck at His power and authority.

    These verses encourage me:
    Rev 12:7-12
"Salvation and power are established! Kingdom of our God, authority of his Messiah!
The Accuser of our brothers and sisters thrown out, who accused them day and night before God.
    They defeated him through the blood of the Lamb and the bold word of their witness. They weren't in love with themselves;
they were willing to die for Christ.

So rejoice, O Heavens, and all who live there, but doom to earth and sea,
For the Devil's come down on you with both feet; he's had a great fall; He's wild and raging with anger; he hasn't much time and he knows it."

Salvation and power are planted firm. Satan knows his time is short, his demise imminent, so we must expect attack, but we also must remember Who already won. Thanks be to God, He has already provided a Way.

A new year awaits. No knowing what exactly the future will bring. Yet we open the door, in fear and in hope.

  3. I've even studied it in school and it's a book that is still confusing. Praying this morning for Sylvia who is in surgery. Oh, may God's presence be so very real for her. Keep thinking about the prayerful words we just read the day before --- may she prosper and be in good health. Not demanding but just kneeling before our Good God on her behalf for she has suffered so this year. May He do Eph 3:19--21 exceeding abundantly beyond what we can imagine for Sylvia. She's singing a song in her suffering!

  4. I spent Christmas with my parents and came home last night to my router on the blink. Just got off the phone with tech support and have a connection to the web...finally.

I am so not tecnically gifted!

Christmas Eve we celebrated my dad's 87th birthday and that man is still able to keep up with all of us!

He says he can't find the word "retired" in the Bible so he just keeps working for the Lord. He led a man to Christ last Thursday. He counsels people who come to our local food shelter. He still teaches and serves in his church. I just am amazed at how God keeps him strong and vibrant when so many never make it to this decade. He is such a modern-day disciple of his God. I pray to be the same.

Hope you all had a blessed Christmas. Annette, praise God for Lauren's good report! Sylvia, you are in my prayers.

Revelation is a dramatic book of mighty happenings! And we are so close to the end.

I will catch up as quick as I can, but know that I am thankful for these 66 Love Letters and the pearls I've met here.

    Standing on the promises...
    Deborah

  5. My Precious String of Pearls Family,

Thank you for praying on my behalf. Bottom line I was at the facility in the med center area to have the surgery when the doctor, anesthesiologist and I after some discussion agreed my surgery should be rescheduled to sometime later in 2011. There was a concern from one of the reports provided and the doctor was unable to be reached in time for today's surgery. I am working on a more detailed e-mail I will send out soon to those I have your e-mail address. Thank you again for your prayers on my behalf.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Grace and Peace a Song I must Sing to you for God to bless you richly as we begin the new year this weekend.

    Sylvia
