January 3 ... Genesis 8 - 11 "Despise Darkness/ Cover Up with Grace"

Gen 9:3 - The two boys "covered their father's nakedness," his sin. I am touched by Shem and Japheth, Noah's two younger sons. They didn't scoff or spurn or shoot sarcasm their dad's way for his sin, rather they covered it up. I think God is saying to me to despise the darkness I see around me, cover it up with grace, and move in to really love people. Am I offering grace today or keeping a cool distance, a safe dismissiveness?

  1. Hey Sweet Bev...

I think I am going to join up here... One because I adore you so :)

I am thinking about reading the Bible in Chronological order... However I decide, I will make sure to stop by and share as I can...

    Love you... Kim

  2. Today 2 things really stood out to me.

    1. Noah left the ark and immediately built an altar and offered sacrifices to God.

    2. The builders of the Tower of Babel really show us a powerful example of sin and it's consequences.

I ask myself do I worship God immediately when He acts on my behalf or do I call friends with praise reports and get on with the daily issues of life and am I mindful of the sin in my life?

  3. "Let's make ourselves famous." Gen 11:4. I was talking to the LORD about that this a.m.---trying to make something happen for ourselves. Need to let God's will happen. Seems like success in our world is measured by what you've achieved even in the spiritual realm. People so want to be around famous people like Beth Moore or Billy Graham. But there are no big people & little people in God's economy.

  6. The provision God had for Noah and his family struck me in today's readings. How He is a God of specificity and completeness--even with a little window in the ark where Noah could know the worst was over, then the beautiful covenant rainbow for reassurance. Love to all, Annette

  7. What struck me is that God shut the door, Noah did not shut the door and then in reality God opened the door when He let Noah know that the land was dry when the dove did not come back. He shuts doors for us too, and He stands at the door of our hearts knocking and waiting till we ask Him in. Blessings

  8. Ooooh Mary Lou!
God just really spoke to me about something going on in my life right now when you talked about how it was that
    God SHUT THE DOOR...
wonder what that was like for Noah?
