I Tim 2:2 "A Quiet Life" (November 14)

Did Daniel ask this question?
How can we sing the Lord's song in a foreign land?  Psalm 137:4
We will never forget the land of Jerusalem from which we came.
We will never forget the Lord!
Nine decades in Babylon, a foreign land---Daniel knew.
He knew how to sing in his darkest night.
May we find a song in our own darkness.

Someone said to me:  The Gospel has eyes.
His Eyes see right into your heart.
He sees all and flings arms open wide.
May we have open eyes today to see what stirs within.
And to bow in deeper repentance,
a little more than yesterday.

And may we all have one high honor:
To Lead a Peaceful and Quiet Life,
godly and dignified in every way
I Timothy 2:2

  1. My son Greg's name means Watchman. He was named Watchman, like Ezekiel over Israel. What a huge task Ezekiel was given, yet it's really our same task. After we become believers we are to speak and tell that God judges our sin, and, marvelously and redemptively provides a way out of our mess.

"Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity."

We are forgetting our promise to be a Watchman for Israel. A friend and I had a conversation the other day asking why would the Lord ask us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem when we know it won't happen until the End of the Age? We spoke several theories on it, but one that grasped my heart was that when you pray for someone (or some country), you have their back. Your will lines up with God's about that issue. You essentially and consequently become their ally because you cannot betray God's Truth inside you. Until He sets it right, we cannot forget, and must remain a watchman for Israel. Pray for the peace of Jerusualem today. They need God's power more than ever.

  2. What wise words, Annette. They touched me so. What a beautiful picture of our prayers meaning that we have someone's back. That is a great comfort to me as I pray for my son and his boys. As well as all the others I pray for. Jerusalem and Israel needs our prayers more than ever before. God is moving the chess pieces.....
