Romans 16:1 "Phoebe: A Patron of Many" (August 17)

From Phoebe: A servant of the church.  A patron of many.  Romans 16:1.

To Prisca and Aquila: Who risked their lives for Paul.  Romans 16:3

To him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel, Romans 16:25, and the preaching of Jesus Christ ... to bring about the obedience of faith—

To the only wise God be Glory Forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen and Amen.

  1. "Patronage is the support, encouragement, privilege, or financial aid that an organization or individual bestows to another. In the history of art, arts patronage refers to the support that kings or popes have provided to musicians, painters, and sculptors. It can also refer to the right of bestowing offices or church benefices, the business given to a store by a regular customer, and the guardianship of saints." Wikipedia

I hope you don't mind reading through the definition of Patron. It set my mind thinking of how patrons have affected my life. I am so grateful for a couple of my patrons who have supported my art by buying my paintings through out the years. I am in awe of the prayer patrons who lift me up through the ups and downs of my life experiences. Sylvia is one who comes to mind, she is always ready to offer up a petition to God for me and my family. My mother has an amazing prayer list, it is so crammed with names, I can hardly read it, yet she told me she never takes a name off, just keeps praying for them.

My prayer today is that I will be a patron, giving with both hands open, of my heart, my time, my finances to be a servant of the church, a faithful follower of
Christ and encouragement to those in need. I pray I will have eyes to see, ears to hear and feet to follow.
    Amen.

  2. I am so not ready to leave Romans. What a family Paul reminds us we each have available to us.

God provides such an amazing community of saints for each of us to grow in His Love and Grace.

I must go back to Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual act of worship. This verse helps me recognize everything I do can be a spiritual act of worship to the Almighty God.

I am blessed by the way Paul concludes "to the ONLY Wise God be Glory be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen."

  3. Jan, I just now read your entry...I am so honored to not only lift you and your family up to the Throne of Grace in prayer but also the entire Pearl Family as well as my own family.

Right now I am praying for Bev as she has begun a new job this week. Don't know anything about it, don't need to; just knowing that Jehovah Jireh will provide exactly what she needs to Glorify the name of Jesus in her work place.

  4. I am praising God for the blessing God is pouring on Annette and Mike in the Market Place with Rock Lake Ranch and all the bookings they have. Also praising God for the blessing of three children and three weddings knowing each child has a life partner that loves them so dearly. I just remember what peace that was to me after the last wedding of Les and my daughters.
