Acts 10:4 "A Memorial Before God" (June 30)

Acts 10:4  "Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God."  What a beautiful thing to be caught in a life of prayer.  And, as well, to have an angel direct you to a meaningful mission.  In every conversation, every visitation, every action, may I be more concerned about what is happening inside of me and what I am offering to my God and my world, than I am fixed on what's happening to me and what others are doing to me.  This verse invites me to a larger place than where I live and give.  Oh, to "let go" of what is clenched in my fist and live open-handed before Our Author, Our Maker.  Will my God experience a memorial from me this day?  Wonder what that would look like?

  1. Last night, two friends and I prayed together for a young man who came to my friend's office yesterday to get insurance. He's 21 about to be deployed, getting LIFE insurance for his wife and little girl. We all three have sons who very well could have been drafted but for volunteers like this young man. We also prayed for my friend who is now a widow at 61, facing going back to work as a secretary. It is comforting to read today's Word, that our prayers and alms are a memorial before the Throne of God. He hears. He sees.

Lifted up Sally in prayer too for good news and comfort after her spinal tap. Let us know, Mary Lou, when you can, how she is doing.

Off to get ready for Jack's funeral. Please pray for comfort for their family as they say goodbye to Jack. The funeral is at my old church, and I am feeling very nostalgic for all the love in my old church home. One thing for certain, no two--they know how to care for each other so sweetly, and Jack is now Home.

Sing and testify today to His Hand on our lives. He is our strength, our refuge, our only and best Hope.

  3. Prayers and alms.

    Who needs my prayers tonight?
How can my alms touch lives for eternity?

We can sure get so caught up in our own needs that we walk right past someone needing us to pray or act in response to their need.

Annette, may God place His Hand over this young soldier and guard and protect him and his family. Our nation has so many heroes to be thankful for this 4th of July!
I pray for Jack's family as they go through this loss. Bless you for letting us pray for them, Annette. May God meet your own needs for comfort right now. I pray for Sally and ask for strong faith, overcoming faith...and the touch of the Master's Hand on her body. Bev, your words are something I look forward to reading every day. I come here every day and feel welcomed, loved and accepted by each post you leave for us. Thank you for your faithfulness and your deep drawings from God's Living Water.

May you all hear God speak direction, just like Cornelius.

    God bless,
    Deborah
